Setting up our largest 50 × 60 cm large-format camera.

A portrait. And a positive image… made directly on Foma Variant 312 photographic paper, using an inversion process that produces a positive image straight away.

No negative to scan.
No digital printing.
A true silver gelatin photograph, made directly on paper. 🖤

The negative size? 50 × 60 cm.
Needless to say, everything becomes a little more impressive: the camera, the paper, the gestures… and the portrait.

An incredible and truly magical moment!

Some people thought the video we posted yesterday was made with AI… 😅

And ultimately, that’s good news: it means this photographic process is still not well known!

What you’re seeing here is a direct positive print using a reversal process: an analogue photographic technique that allows you to obtain a positive image directly on Foma Variant 312 paper, after taking the photograph with a large-format camera.

And yes… the final step really is done in the light. ✨

Would you like to discover this technique and make your own prints?

📸 We offer workshops at Studio Baxton, with all the equipment provided. You’ll learn the process and leave with your own prints.

Come and visit us at the studio! 🖤

What if you went back to the very origins of photography… ⚗️✨

Welcome to the world of wet plate collodion — a 19th-century process where every image is a one-of-a-kind piece, crafted entirely by hand.

No “delete” button.
No editing.
Just you, the light… and chemistry.

During this workshop, you’ll learn how to:
– prepare your plates
– master natural light
– reveal images that are imperfect… yet unforgettable

It’s slow.
It’s demanding.
And that’s exactly why it’s magical.

⚠️ Warning: once you try it, there’s no going back.
