What a weekend, National Dance Championships, Blackpool!

There is no book that can teach parenting in my opinion. You do what you think is right, support, encourage and love through the good and the challenging. When it comes to kids and sport our mantra has always been try every sport and over time you will find the one you have a real passion for.

In Atlanta’s case it’s dance 💃 & six months ago she requested to Home Educate through her GCSE years so she can focus on dance that is her chosen future profession / career.

Six months later she has begun GCSE dance, been cast for Pantomime this Christmas, selected to dance at EuroDisney Paris next summer and now competed, captained & won awards at the National Dance Championships. I’m so proud of the maturity of my young lady to take the lead, drive her work ethic in the direction of her career goals and begin to succeed.

All we did was support, encourage and love ❤️

We smashed it on the 2p slots as well! Win-Win 🎰

A week to reset after what has felt a bit like a pressure cooker with our upcoming court tribunal date for Jenson’s education with the Gloucestershire Local Authority & ORNA acquisition offers creating a host of other pressures 😵‍💫

Center Parcs has become our quarterly “go-to” for decompressing whilst being able to balance continued work and home education so back to Woburn this time for a week of swimming rapids, ping pong, pickleball and the Pancake House 🥞

Timing is everything & receiving notification on Friday that after two years of stress, private assessment costs, being on the brink of giving up & Laney having to leave her Civil Service career we’ve won our case for Jenson to receive an education matched to his autistic needs 🙏🏼

Now for a big end to the year 🚀, enjoy Spooky season 🎃 & get ready for the best time of the year, Christmas 🎄

Apologies for the increased caffeine intake ☕️ over the past 2 years but thank you to everyone who has been an ear and supported us, it’s really helped me balance everything 🙌🏼❤️

J’s first maths session with @brainyspinachmath! What an incredible idea, incorporating Roblox with maths. When I came across this I asked J if he would like to give it a try, it was a definite yes. Learning with J has to be child led and at his pace and ideally not look like learning!!

He did ask “how is this maths” which gets asked a lot because children’s perception of maths is often worksheets and adding/taking away etc.

He loved the session and we’ve already booked again for next week.

If you’d like a trial there are referral discounts so get in touch.

One of the fantastic things about home education is the opportunity to explore subjects not typically offered in schools. Today, Atlanta is started her year course GCSE in Travel and Tourism via an online group session.

Tourism is a fascinating subject that touches all of us, whether we’re exploring new places as tourists or welcoming visitors to where we live.

Atlanta is excited to dive into topics like world travel, sustainability, and cultures! 🌍✈️

crying with happiness right now 🥹✨

This evening I found out that my audition on Sunday was succesful and I am now going to be casted in the pantomime Cinderella @the.roses.theatre

Full of joy right now so happy I made the decision to home educate otherwise I wouldn’t have been able to do this.

This means so so much to me I’m over the moon I am so grateful for @_variations_academy_ and especially @pava_gill ❤️

Congrats to everyone who got selected and big hugs/love to those who didn’t. Everyone did so well on the day and should be so proud x

Thank you @mummydaddy2kids @mgill.80 for letting me do all my dance, singing and acting and for the build up today !!!!

I can’t wait for the panto journey ahead of me !!! 🎄✨🩵

Today we went wild… woodland wild to be precise!

We collaborated with the frankly incredible @acornplayuk who have been providing special summer sessions for kids to explore their natural environments and learn some seriously cool forest skills!

Our new Chiropractor @dr.robynchiro specialises in children from age 5 upwards so we wanted to create a fun workshop of playful learning all about our amazing nervous systems!

Stuck in the Mud took on a Chiropractic theme, and forest foraging became a sensory experience.

If you have active kids find out how important a healthy nervous system is and get in touch!

Last week we signed up to @littlecraftersboxes and today without even knowing, J completed a unit of learning which I submitted this afternoon and received a PASS and some wonderful feedback. His AQA certificate will be in the post and I hope it will be a great motivator to complete more!

A few people have said that I should visit @elkstonestudios but in the context of co-working to break up the WFH week 📤🗒️💼💻

Today felt like a good day for a Farmers Market & a Sunday morning to relax with family, plus a break from sport on TV! Anyways, what a nice place to just take time to disconnect, have a drink & mess around with the kids. I’m sensing this will become our “first Sunday of the month thing” & yeah, it would be a great co-working location too.

Also, Padel courts on-site if you want to go full blown Cheltenham middle class stereotype 🎾😂👍🏼

Turtle biscuits!! Saw these on TikTok, showed them to J and A and they both wanted to have a go at making them!
We are going to host a home Ed craft/activity fair in the autumn and these will be one of the activities!

Super simple, super cute.

We are volunteering at @atollmarinecentre next year and money raised from these we will donate to the turtle rehabilitation centre!

Today we received our first ever @snackverseuk box and it was the Netherlands! @gertjanbruggink any favourites in there?

We have subscribed to these boxes as a learning tool for J. Learning needs to not look like learning and this is perfect. As well as enjoying the snacks, we will spend time learning about the Netherlands, their cycling culture, innovative water management, tulip mania, canals, windmills and waterways etc We we learn where it is on the map, what languages are spoke there.

We will receive boxes monthly and this will contribute to our topic for the month. Not quite child led but definitely interest based. Who doesn’t love receive post, particularly when it’s full of snacks!

Does anyone else get these boxes? Which has been your best box? Jenson can’t wait for USA!
