I'm very excited to introduce you to my friends, Nina and Laura.

We found one another because we're all mums/moms learning French in our own way and sharing languages we're not native speakers of with our children.

We've got our own stories, methods and reasons. We're connected by our shared goals, values and interests.

You'll be seeing more from the three of us together, as we share about our learning journeys as mothers. Follow along as we share more about the hows and whys of what we're doing.

Since starting daycare our boy’s English has suddenly surged.

And for a moment I wondered if our minority language was slipping away.

But bilingual development research shows this stage is incredibly common.

When children enter environments dominated by one language, that language often becomes temporarily stronger.

The minority language can go quiet for a while.
But quiet doesn’t mean gone.

Understanding continues.
Vocabulary continues.
The brain keeps wiring both languages.

And then one day the words come back.

If you're raising bilingual kids too, have you experienced this stage?

I’d love to hear your story 🤍

When Bad Bunny stood on one of the biggest stages in the world and sang in Spanish, something shifted.

For decades, bilingual people were told to pick one language.
To make it easier.
To fit in.

And in one moment, in front of millions, he showed the opposite.

You do not have to shrink your language to be heard.
You do not have to translate yourself to be worthy.
You do not have to choose one side of who you are.

Bilingualism is not confusion.
It is culture.
It is history.
It is power.

And every bilingual child watching just saw proof that their home language belongs everywhere 💫
