A huge thank you to everyone who came out and helped make our World Day of Play such a memorable day for the children! 💛

To our wonderful guests, volunteers, partners and everyone who gave their time, energy and resources to make the day happen…thank you. The children had an amazing time, and seeing them play, explore and just enjoy themselves made it all worthwhile.

We especially want to appreciate @nickelodeon @laracookey @adventureswith_mrs.o @nefescorner @lekkiconservationcentre @channelstelevision
for being part of the experience and supporting us.

To every volunteer who showed up, rolled up their sleeves and got involved, we see you and appreciate you. And to our guests who honoured our invitation, thank you for spending your day with us.

We’re grateful for the community that continues to make opportunities like this possible for children. 💛

Here’s to more play, more discovery and more opportunities for children to just be children. 🌱

Another satisfied reader! @laracookey

Thank you for picking up What If Sasha Storm Lost Her Voice? and taking Sasha’s journey with you.

"Some stories entertain you. Others make you pause and ask yourself questions.”

A story about voice, identity, love, and the question of who we become when the thing that once defined us is suddenly taken away.

Sasha’s story is more than losing her voice.
It’s about discovering what remains when the world can no longer recognize you by the thing it once knew you for.

And we love seeing readers experience that journey.

Have you read Sasha Storm yet? What part of her story stayed with you?

Copies of What If Sasha Storm Lost Her Voice? are available at Jazzhole Bookstore in Ikoyi, Lagos and on Amazon UK, Amazon US & African Books Collective 📚

✨From my iPad to 3D✨
Throwback Tuesday
Toru began as a digital illustration I created on my iPad using @inkpad_app . To bring her closer to life, I explored Ai to refine features around my drawings -blending tradition with innovation.
With the fabulous work by @stampar3d studio, those designs stepped into 3D, and now Toru stands as a joyful mini doll in her blue dress and iconic braided twin buns and blue bows.
A limited number will be available at my book signing at Roving Heights, Landmark Centre, Lagos , on 20 th July 2026
this is why I say: I design across mediums 😉

A circle of bronze — centuries inside.

Each motif on this dial carries echoes of African heritage: patterns once carved, woven, and cast in tradition, now reborn in solid bronze.
Mounted on a black wooden cube, it becomes a dialogue — modern geometry meeting ancestral rhythm.

We call them book stops — a twist on our usual bookends.
Functional, yes. But also sculptural. A quiet statement that art can live in the everyday.

And in another form, the same dial becomes a necklace — versatile art, heritage worn close to the heart.
Every piece is a story, cast in metal, shaped by hand, carrying meaning into living.

Hi, Im Omolara Cookey
I’m reading a few pages from my book ‘Toru and the Mango Seed’.
Because it’s Father’s Day soon, I will be looking at pages that have the Daddy.
One afternoon Daddy gave Tonye a snack to try.
What do you think baby Tonye is eating?
Did he enjoy it?

Reading to a child before they can read themselves develops imagination, comprehension, cognitive capabilities and ultimately a love for reading .

Democracy begins in the quiet moments when a child listens to a story. Before they learn to read, they learn to imagine , and imagination is the seed of participation.Every page turned is a lesson in empathy, every character a voice that matters. On this Democracy Day, let’s remember that reading to children isn’t just nurturing minds -it’s nurturing citizens.Because a nation that reads together, thinks together, and dreams together will always find its way forward.
