This November I'll open @memorylibrary.uk It's a big milestone for me, representing nearly a decade of practice, experimentation and collaboration. Memory Library is a response to what we might need from public spaces as technology advances. Where can we go to connect, share experiences and feel a sense of kinship? I'm incredibly grateful to @aceagrams @britisharts @portsmouthcitycouncil @portsmouthcreates @portsmouth.historic.quarter for making this possible. And to the new and old collaborators who are coming together to shape this first edition of Memory Library. (Tagged)

🇬🇧🇬🇧🇬🇧Yesterday marked an important milestone for Ursula as we presented our immersive VR project exploring endometriosis for the first time in the UK, with director Comfort Arthur @lady_comfy and producer Emilie Dubois @emiliedbs at LFF Expanded Industry in London. The project received a positive response, followed by five roundtable sessions where audiences could engage with our ideas and share feedback. At our booth we showcased our maquette of the entire VR world, created by our talented creative technologist @larakob, alongside Emilie and Amber. Special thanks to our concept artist @zeynepdrawings2 , whose beautiful artwork has helped shape these worlds. We also created a space to celebrate our contributors, highlighting their advocacy through their Instagram platforms and a published book by @in16yearsofendo . Their voices, experiences and commitment are central to Ursula and our mission to bring greater visibility to endometriosis and to their advocacy work. Thank you to @uschrauth and his team for the opportunity to give visibility to endometriosis, and to everyone who has shared their stories and supported this journey. What’s next? We’re looking for distribution partners, technical collaborators and funders to help bring Ursula to life and reach wider audiences. If you share our vision, we’d love to hear from you. Let’s make the invisible unmissable. #UrsulaVR #LFFExpanded #EndometriosisAwareness #ImmersiveStorytelling #VR XR

On 31 July, Shubbak took over Friday Late at V&A South Kensington to mark fifteen years of artistic exchange, collective imagination and Arab and SWANA cultural presence across the UK. Across the museum, artists working across performance, music, installation, fashion, food, conversation and digital practice approached the body as a site of memory, resistance, pleasure, knowledge sharing and possibility. From synths from Syria and a DJ set from Sudan, to an imagined ancestors from Iran, a counter-catwalk catwalk, a feast of Levantine baking and a VR ritual against the evil eye, and an entire universe birthed from the natural archive of a single seed, the evening brought together practices that moved across disciplines, geographies and generations. Co-curated by Shubbak and the V&A, the takeover offered a space to celebrate fifteen years of work while imagining what might come next. 📹 @abdulisms 🎵 @skandasabbagh IC6 - QADAR Ft. Extremely enjoyable and thought-provoking night @vamuseum x @shubbakfestival #FridayLate, celebrating Arab and SWANA art and culture. Especially loved Baraka Obscura - the black seed “a cure for everything but death” and very glad to have my portable dose against The Ailment of the times @yasmeen.ayyashi @bluman_associates @stochastic.resonance. Intrigued and charmed by Nazar with @larakob, and so absorbed by The Park (Dancing in the Rubble of Empire) about the fraught multilayered histories of Wembley Park @arwaaburawa @othercinemas that I forgot to take a photo. A really uplifting evening, recognising the troubles of the times (now and past) but with a focus on recording, recalling, healing and celebrating.

NAZAR- نَظَر On 31 July, Nazar by Lara Habib Kobeissi @larakob returns from Shubbak Festival 2025 to Friday Late at V&A South Kensington as part of Shubbak’s 15th anniversary. Part memoir, part immersive archive, Nazar brings together live performance and VR to reconstruct the artist’s childhood home, tracing three decades of conflict, migration and a mother-daughter relationship shaped through rituals of protection. Combining visuals, sound, scent, taste and touch, the work unfolds through experiential poetry, recordings of surveillance drones, motion-captured gestures and oral histories, creating a multi-sensory experience rooted in embodied memory and intergenerational care. 📍 V&A South Kensington | The Lydia and Manfred Gorvy Lecture Theatre 🗓 31 July | 18:45 & 20:15 – 🎟 Free Duration: 30 minutes Friday Late at V&A South Kensington Co-curated by Shubbak and the V&A.
