Contents:
🍏 MM Cozy Horror Romance
🍂 Trans Mpreg
🍏 Pr¡mal Play
🍂 Atmospheric Fall Vibes

Blurb:
Four months ago, Jesse Vale made the decision to stay at Guillory Farms and help Ward through busy season. Now, for the first time in his life, Jesse feels a sense of belonging. He feels it as he works in the orchard beneath an easy, cool breeze. He feels it in the crisp smell of cider wafting through the hallways of his new home. And while Jesse does not have a name for the connection that binds him to Ward, he feels it in Ward’s hands too—rough and weathered, but tender against his bare skin.
Life is almost perfect. There is only one thing Jesse cannot seem to shake: a sickness that found him somewhere in the hazy months between June and October. Something that grows stronger every night. Something violent enough to tear him from sleep. Jesse means to keep it from Ward, convinced it will fade if he ignores it long enough. But when he wakes in a hospital bed, he learns the truth: the orchard knows his truest desire. The sickness is a gift, and he is far from the first to receive it.

I had the pleasure of once again working with @larkinbryne to create the cover for their latest work: Orchard Born.
I'm so excited to read the next installment and to see what happens to Jesse and Ward 👀🍂

❓Do you write in your books??

Today’s bookish theme is ‘religious symbolism’ and boy do I have a good one for you! I pulled BLOODY AUBADE by Larkin Bryne (@larkinbryne). I swear I could have highlighted and filled every margin with theories about the symbolism and plot! We also have a trans main character and the coolest version of Hell as West Texas.

Here’s the blurb:
Son of brimstone. Son of plague. Cassius was a prince once. Borne of sickly yellow hatred and old magic, Cassius was made to serve the throne of Hell. He left it all for Finlo. A year has passed since he abandoned his homeland, and Cassius now lives in the ruin of the life he once created. He wanders through burned houses, still sticky with aching-sweet memory, and sits with Finlo’s bones, picked clean by vultures in the tall, dry grass. But the dead need not stay dead for long. When Muninn, the messenger of Hell, comes with news of a bargain from the King—Cassius’ return in exchange for the resurrection of the only man who has ever made him feel wanted—Cassius cannot refuse. With Muninn at his side, he wanders the sun-scorched Thranthian wastelands and waits for Finlo’s soul to resurface. But what of all the possibilities he cannot see? Those that loom wild, dipped just below the horizon—fear, and doubt, and love. What awaits him in that bloody dawn?

Was this month lactating or was that just mine? 🤣 🥛

Welcome to my August reading wrap up 📚☺️

Ngl, this month was rough. Between migraines, chronic pain, med changes, and planning my kids birthday party, I had alot going on. However I still found time read and enjoy these absolutely amazing books.

A bunch of my reads have been arcs lately and I am so grateful and lucky to get to read these books early. Some of this month made it to my ALL TIME EVER favourites list 😏

I also ventured out of my comfort zone and read some splatter punk books. Which were.... Definately something hahahaha, I'm keen to try more.

How's your month been? What was your favourite read of the month?

Blurb:
Jesse Vale owns almost nothing when he is released from prison—just one set of clothes, fifteen dollars in a plastic bag, and a bunch of junk he found in the lot of a Diner. He had plans to leave dust-covered Bellamy Texas, to find a real job in a real place, and finally start his real life. But when Jesse meets Ward Guillory, a handsome older man who runs the local orchard, those plans change.

Ward offers him a job: Work on the orchad for five months, stay in the house on Ward’s property, earn a living, and then go on his merry way with no strings attached. Jesse accepts. What could be more safe than a place like Bellamy? It is only when Jesse arrives on the property that he realizes: The house where he sleeps holds people in the walls, and the ground which he walks on has teeth.

BOOK REVIEW 📖 & Announcement that this book is now available on Kindle Unlimited!! 🥳
Orchard Keeper by @larkinbryne
------

Thoughts: This book immediately gripped my attention! Firstly you meet Jessie who is recently released from prison and has nothing to his name, he enters a diner and comes in contact with an old teacher of his from university. Ward (the teacher) shows Jessie kindness, and an offer someone with nothing can't refuse. Jessie accepts a live-in position working for Ward at the orchard, however things aren't as they should seem. The walls hold lives, a mysterious danger lurks in the dark, and the grounds have an insatiable hunger. Suspicion high, but there's a pull holding Jessie to Ward, their own insatiable hunger between them. Agh, it was just great, I truly enjoyed the whole journey and the way the whole plot developed. The time line was great, the horror was well written, and you could easily visualise what the author was wanting to portray in each scene. The romance was amazing, I loved the tension and the dynamic between Jessie and Ward. This book had the perfect mix of creepy, what the fuck, steamy, funny and cute moments.

Things I loved:
♡ MLM romance with trans lead
♡ Sentient horny orchard anyone!?
♡ Lactation Kink - this, this was everything and I thoroughly enjoyed how well Larkin wrote this!
♡ Touch starved MC's - I am such a sucker for when couples are so desperate for each other, that when they collide it feels like a force coming together
♡ Eerie setting and horror details throughout

Memorable quote:
Ward and the creature stared at each other through the glass. It threw it’s head back and
wailed
