We’ve looked through these images countless times. Seeing them printed in @sarahshermansamuel’s first book is something else entirely.

We remember hand-delivering our Artful Objects to the photoshoot in January 2025, simply hoping they’d help bring the project to life — never imagining they’d become part of something so beautifully documented. We also had the pleasure of meeting @sarahshermansamuel and @nicole_franzen — creatives we’ve long admired and whose talent speaks for itself.

Incredibly grateful to the SSS team for including us. Congratulations on the release of Sarah Sherman Samuel: The Intersection of Art and Design. A book you’ll return to for inspiration again and again.

Beautiful work in progress by the talented @latch_key.

“My approach to clay is in conversation; a collaboration with the medium itself. Versus dictating form, I acknowledge that both the clay and I have just as much control over the final outcome of the piece. I may have an initial idea in the first stages of building but sometimes the clay will indicate otherwise. It is my duty to see that indication, leading to an exchange of simultaneously pushing against boundaries and honoring them.” Whitney Sharpe (@latch_key)

Drawing inspiration from mythology, nature, and the unknown, Whitney creates ceramics that feel both ancient and contemporary. Foraged by hand, the instinct of clay is of impression; it is the practice of impermanence.

@resto.fest Activity Spotlight: Ikebana feat. works by @latch_key ceramics.

Ikebana is the Japanese art of flower arranging. It is not just pretty flowers in a pretty vase. Ikebana helps the artist realize the harmony between the natural and spiritual world.
Creating an arrangement is not just about beauty, but is also about creating a meditative moment for the artist.

Join Suzie Morioka Bertram for two workshops on this beautiful and meditative creative practice. Suzie is a Wakamatsu docent and volunteer who managed the tea house project from idea to completion. Suzie will be hosting two hands-on Ikebana workshops at RestoFest: Saturday from 4-5pm & Sunday from 11:30-12:30 in the Native Plant Garden, outside the Teahouse.

Introducing The @latch_key: Forms That Hold Presence. After a sold out release in The Vault, our newest collection by Oakland based artist Whitney Sharpe is now available — bigger and bolder than the last.

Fruiting plum branches gather inside the Grande Celeste Vessel — an arrangement by @mflora.design that feels alive with tension, shaped by the push and pull of movement, weight, and form.

The Yves, Lilith, and Collar vessels from the collection are featured at this year’s @sfshowcase, where @latch_key’s hand-shaped forms meet the language of layered interiors.

View the full collection exclusively at INK + PORCELAIN.

@latch_key sold out through The Vault before we ever had the chance to share it here.

This release by Oakland-based artist Whitney Sharpe of The Latch Key expands on her distinct language of hand-shaped ceramics — softened forms, tactile surfaces, and subtle variations that make every piece feel deeply personal.

Our newest collection by @latch_key is now exclusively available at INK + PORCELAIN.
