Tuesday saw our annual trip to @buildabear with @latchwales , and the children absolutely love this day! ❤️ There’s something so special about choosing and creating a bear of their own.

Afterwards, we headed to a lovely place for pizza, cupcakes and coffee. 🍕🧁 All the Latch team went above and beyond.

The children got creative, using furniture to construct slides for their new bears, while the adults had the opportunity to catch up. To share where we’re at, listen, support one another and simply spend time with people who understand. People who just get it — including all the medical lingo that comes with this journey!

One thing that really stood out was our conversations about the treatments we put our children through to save their lives. We are so incredibly grateful for these treatments, but the long-term health consequences can be harsh. It’s a complex and often unfair reality of childhood cancer. Every parent is doing their best to navigate it all, balancing the worry and uncertainty with hope, positivity and the determination to keep moving forward. 💛

The children spent the rest of the day adding to their ever-growing Christmas lists! Roman has definitely inherited his dad’s taste in trainers. 👟 I was VERY relieved they didn’t have his size in stock! 😂

Santa can take on the challenge of sourcing those Nike trainers… because that’s one job I’m happy to leave to him! 🎅🏻❤️

OUR WORK GOES BEYOND THE FUNERAL.

At White Rose Funerals & Memorials, we believe our responsibility to families and communities does not end when a funeral is over.

That belief has shaped our approach to aftercare, bereavement support and community engagement — and it is one of the reasons we created Wales Working Together.

Our conference on 9 October brought together organisations, professionals, community groups and people with lived experience to explore how we can improve support around suicide prevention, mental health, bereavement and community wellbeing.

We are grateful to everyone who supported the day, contributed their knowledge and helped create opportunities for future collaboration.

But for us, the conference is not the finish line.

We want to build on what we have learned, strengthen relationships and work with others to address gaps in support.

We know we cannot do everything ourselves. But we can bring people together, listen to our communities and help create the conditions for change.

That is what community responsibility means to us.

The conference is over, but my mind is already on what comes next.

On 9 October, we brought together people from across Wales who care about our communities, mental health, suicide prevention and bereavement.

There were conversations, connections, ideas and commitments. I came away feeling that we have so much potential — but also so much work to do.

For me, this was never about organising another conference. It was about bringing people together who might not otherwise meet, building relationships and finding ways to make a difference beyond one day.

I know we cannot change everything overnight. But if we listen, collaborate and take responsibility together, we can begin to change things.

I'm proud of what we have started, grateful to everyone who stood alongside us, and conscious that the most important question is still ahead of us:

🎄 MILES FOR THOMAS – CHRISTMAS FUNDRAISING DINNER 🎄

On Thursday 17 December 2026, we’ll be coming together at The Bear Hotel, Cowbridge for a very special Christmas evening in aid of LATCH Welsh Children’s Cancer Charity.

This fundraiser is incredibly close to my heart. My grandson Thomas was diagnosed with acute myeloid leukaemia earlier this year and underwent months of intensive chemotherapy. Throughout that time, LATCH provided invaluable support to Thomas and our family.

Thankfully, Thomas has now completed his treatment and is doing well. ❤️

But our fundraising doesn’t stop there.

I also want to help raise awareness of something no family ever expects to face:

Children get cancer too.

The evening will include a festive three-course dinner, live entertainment, charity auction and raffle, with some fantastic prizes donated by businesses and organisations from across Wales.

Following a brilliant round of fundraising for their new kits, our U10 Girls were very proud to be able to offer their shirt sponsorship space to charity @latchwales completely free of charge, helping to raise awareness for the children’s cancer charity. As you can see from the photos, the players love their new kits, and were really happy to welcome a Latch representative to their training session, too.

Latch will have their name on our shirts for the next two years.

Little appreciation for our lovely sunupper @thedowdens who has not that long ago had a baby and with childcare restrictions and a busy home life has still managed to come out on the weekends to push her long run training and smashed her first @cardiffhalf but we didn’t have a picture with her to show you all how amazing she did! We found her in the pen as she was running for @latchwales and we were able to start together but then lost her on the way round so @thedowdens, Sadie this one is just for you to say many congratulations on your finish time and for your dedication to completing it this year….everyone else was in a pic to show our team and I just felt that we missed you being part of that and you also deserved to be shown off for the brilliant person you are xx next year?….. 😉

WALES WORKING TOGETHER 2026 — WHAT A DAY. WHAT A MOVEMENT. WHAT AN ACHIEVEMENT. 🖤💛

Yesterday, something truly special happened in Cardiff.

Around 600 individuals, representing more than 200 organisations, came together with one shared purpose: to build stronger communities, improve wellbeing, prevent suicide, and ensure that nobody has to face bereavement alone.

This was more than a conference. It was a powerful reminder of what becomes possible when people put their differences aside, break down silos, share their experiences, and work together for something bigger than themselves.

Have your voice heard on the National Cancer Strategy for Wales – join this online event!

The Welsh Government has announced that it is working on a new National Cancer Strategy for Wales to improve the experiences and outcomes of people living with cancer over the next ten years.

Macmillan Cancer Support and the Wales Cancer Alliance Children and Young People’s Sub-Group, want to ensure that the voices of children and young people with lived experience of cancer, as well as those of their families and carers, are heard during the development of the strategy.

Macmillan Cancer Support and Wales Cancer Alliance are holding an online engagement event on Wednesday, 14 October 2026 from 4pm to 6:00pm - please join us!

This will be an opportunity to learn more about the strategy and how it is being developed, to share your experiences, ideas and ambitions for what cancer care and support should look like in Wales over the decade ahead.
