$You don’t have to be in pain for there to be a problem. A common thing we hear is, “It’s not bothering me, so I’ll just leave it for now.” The challenge is that teeth and bone don’t always wait for pain to show up. If a tooth is fractured, infected, or no longer healthy, delaying treatment can affect the surrounding bone and gum tissue - especially if you’re considering an implant in the future. Over time, the bone in that area can shrink and neighbouring teeth can begin to shift, which may limit your options or make treatment more complex later on. Implants don’t always have to be placed immediately, but there is often an ideal window where treatment is more predictable. Bone needs stimulation to maintain its density. When it’s not being used, it can gradually change. Our role isn’t to pressure you. It’s to give you the full picture so you can make informed decisions that protect your long-term oral health. Addressing an issue before it becomes painful can often preserve more options for the future. If you’ve been unsure about next steps, let’s take a look and create a plan that works for you. 📞 (587) 805-0340 💙 Book online anytime #stalbert #yegdentist #dentalimplants #oralhealth #toothextraction$

$📸 @laura.dentistry • • • • • • University of Alberta October 1st means I’m officially 1/4 done this residency! 🤯🤯🤯 I’ve had many times in my life where I’ve faced a steep learning curve. well, I’m glad I’ve had that practice because the learning curve I’ve travelled these past three months has been STEEP. fortunately, I’ve enjoyed every step! some highlights so far: • assisting major fractures in the OR - and taking out an entire quadrant of teeth in one of the cases! • meeting and learning from my co-residents and the hospital dentists • draining some seriously large abscesses • extracting fully impacted wisdom teeth (and getting faster at it, too!) • every ER shift…especially repositioning and splinting displaced teeth! • and finally, seeing my confidence grow steadily. I still remember being in dental school and needing to pinch myself because I was going to be a dentist!! and now every day I get the privilege to work in this amazing profession. It’s difficult, and not every patient is stoked to see you, but it’s worth it. can’t wait to see what the next quarter brings! . . . . . . follow 👉@dental_pictures use the hashtag 👉 #dental_pictures use the hashtag 👉#i_am_a__dentist #dental #dentaltechnician #dentalphotography #dentallab #dentalart #dentist #ceramicart #ceramica #zircon #zirconia #tooth #teeth #wax #waxup #carving #emax #emaxpress #воск #зуб #зубы #зубнойтехник #керамика #циркон #цирконий #пресскерамика #photography Подписывайся 👉@dental_pictures Используй хештег #dental_pictures Используй хештег #i_am_a__dentist$

Recently saw a case of this while on SICU rotation. The patient that I saw developed this secondary to stroke.

Horner syndrome may be congenital (e.g trauma to nerves and/or carotid injury during delivery, neuroblastoma) or acquired (disorders and lesions in the neck/chest/lungs, disruption of cerebral blood flow).

There are 3 different nerve pathways that are potentially involved;
- First order (central): damage/obstruction to nerves traveling from hypothalamus (brain) down through the brainstem and spinal cord to the chest
- Second order (preganglionic): damage/obstruction to nerves traveling from the chest to the top of the lungs and along the carotid artery
- Third order (postganglionic): damage/obstruction to nerves traveling from the neck to the middle ear and eye
