September was full gas.

I think I’ve probably thrown myself into things as a way of coping. It’s been full on, but grief’s still been sitting there alongside everything else going on.

I’ve spent time with family and friends, got back on my bike, started building something really special with Gravel & Chats, helped @restoringnumberone finally start taking shape, pushed myself out of my comfort zone and somehow managed a few PBs on the bike and in the gym too 💪

My training hasn’t always been consistent, but channelling my grief into smashing the sh*t out of those hard sessions has worked for me.

I’m learning that it’s going to take time for the pain of those last few days with Dad to make way for all the happier memories. Looking through old photos of him and Mum has reminded me just how many of those there are ❤️

So maybe what September has taught me most…

Keep going even when you really don’t want to. Keep doing the things that make you feel like you. And keep the good people close ❤️

More women. More bikes. More laughing until your face hurts ❤️

I think we all need more weekends like this 🥹

Three days in the New Forest. Bikes, gravel, a LOT of chatting, a fair bit of eating, some fun riding in sand for the first time and soooo much laughter.

This is exactly what I wanted Gravel & Chats to be.

Not about being the fastest or the fittest. Just women getting together, riding bikes, trying things, having adventures and making new friends along the way.

Thank you ladies. What a weekend 🫶

And the 2027 dates are now live 👀

Want to join us? Comment GRAVEL and I’ll send you the details 💚

Stepped out of my comfort zone to join Gravel and Chats in the New Forest for a weekend riding some of the best trails. Such a wonderful warm welcome followed by a weekend full of belly laughs, ponies, pedalling and great company. So lovely to spend the weekend with an inspiring group of women in a such beautiful place. Fantastic organisation. Hosted by @duathlongirluk and @theklub.world. Still smiling 😊

"The diagnosis doesn’t just affect the individual, it affects the whole family. It changes the family dynamics of your entire house."

Laura's brother Ben lives with Duchenne muscular dystrophy. She's watched his life change, and the impacts his diagnosis has had on her family.

"Receiving the news of Ben’s diagnosis was shocking. It soon became our family’s normal, as you adapt.

"Adaptations had to be made for Ben by moving his bedroom downstairs into the dining room to make him more comfortable."

As a carrier of Duchenne herself, Laura wanted to do something positive, both to raise awareness of muscle wasting conditions, and to fundraise for support and research to change things for future generations.

And she gave herself a real challenge - completing the Copenhagen Ironman which involved running a marathon, cycling 180km and completing a 3800m open water swim in 15 hours.

"When the going got tough, I thought of Ben. He was 100 percent my main motivation.

"I’m not the one with Duchenne muscular dystrophy, so I wanted a hard challenge to make people donate. Also, one day I may not be able to, so I’m pushing myself whilst I can."

A wholesome week of happiness, training, strawberries, sunshine, friends, recovery, gigs and awards night.

Couldn’t have packed more in if I tried and I’m so glad I took the time to capture this week as it’s been so good for the soul.

I’ve done my training, it’s ramping up. I’ve started to focus on recovery and nutrition more. I’ve spent my days with the people who make me so happy and have never left my side. I let you all in on the challenge info! I got out on my bike for the first time. I tried a new lake to swim and the suns been shining. It’s just been fucking great.

And this is exactly how I want my life to be and will always make sure I do the things that make me happy with the people I love.

8 weeks out from the challenge. LETSSSS GOOOO 🥹🌸✨🩵

Dambuster Standard Distance Triathlon 🤘🏽

🏊🏼‍♀️ 1500m - 41mins 14s
🚴🏽‍♀️ 40km - 1hr 34
🏃🏽‍♀️ 10km - 1hr 4

2 weeks after my 70.3 and this was enjoyable for the most part🤣 felt a lot stronger on the run which is what I’m wanting to feel so happy with that!! The bike my legs felt like they just weren’t there so I was glad to get off it!! And the swim was all a blur!

Was so good to see and meet so many people there, that’s what it’s all about🤩

Excited to complete it again next year and see what difference I can make in a year!

First triathlon in the bag 💪🏻🏊‍♂️🚴🏼‍♂️🏃‍♂️ A great warm-up for my 70.3 next month 🤙🏻 It was a fantastic day—definitely in the hurt locker at times, but I enjoyed every minute of it.

Big shout-out to:

@mbdcsportstherapy for the sports massages and physio support 🙌🏻
@healthbyscience Call for the strength and conditioning programmes that have helped get me to this point 💪🏻

Looking forward to the next challenge!

Army Championships - Olympic Tri✨

1.5km swim, 40km bike, 10km run

Another terrible swim followed by an average bike and a less than acceptable run - but hey, consistency is everything…

The best day ever with the Army Tri girls 🤍
