nearly everything I have prayed for has come to fruition during the first half of 2026- what a wild but incredible season of life! Quick recap:
- choreographed my first competition pieces and had one (or both!) place at every competition
- showed up for friends in their exciting seasons: choreographic debuts, marriages, birthdays, and everything in between
- went to Chicago on Toby’s conference trip and had an anniversary getaway
- watched Toby graduate from his masters and receive an incredible job offer for next year
- traveled to AZ to celebrate my preschool bestie getting married!
- feel so proud of my career and the work I get to do with clients + students alike
Bring on the second half of 2026!

For years, I have watched @camloeser and his company @thenewjackcoledancers , some of whom are in this piece, inspired by their mission, movement, knowledge, passion and talent. To preserve and carry on the lineage of jazz history, passage and innovation. A culture born from slavery. A way of survival. From the heaviest weight of oppression. Communicating through dance, music, poetry, hope.
I moved to NYC in hopes to learn from him, making this performance an incredibly special one.
My first live performance in NYC. My first experience working with @camloeser , dancing among the @thenewjackcoledancers community — this is home. These are friends.
I am incredibly grateful to Camden, one of the most welcoming and genuine people I have come across in this industry. Thank you. Deeply.
Thank you to the dancers for giving me another reason to keep following my dreams — together with you. You inspire me, you make me laugh, you make me love, you make me proud to be alive.
.
Thank you @stepsonbroadway for this beautiful space and opportunity to DANCE.

We had a great time with Miss Laura Behm tonight! So grateful to have had her share her passion, creativity, joy, and overall love of dance with our students. Beautiful job dancers!, it was so fun watching you expand your knowledge and technique on the dance floor. Thank you so much @lauraninabehm 💕

Come see Laura at Modern Night at the Gem! February 14!

Laura Behm is a Kansas City native who began dancing at the age of two with the Heart of America Youth Ballet under the direction of Cindy Monaco. She earned her BFA in Dance Performance and Choreography from UMKC’s Conservatory with a dual emphasis in modern and ballet. While in school she trained under many accomplished professors and performed works by esteemed choreographers, some of which include: Gary Abbott, DeeAnna Hiett, Ronald Tice, Tobin James, Michael Blake, and Ray Mercer. While still in school Laura began her professional career dancing with Kansas City Contemporary Dance Company under the direction of Leigh Murray and Katie Metzger. She also danced in multiple shows with Cedar Fair’s Live Entertainment at KC’s Worlds of Fun, with choreography by Phil Vitug. Laura has also had the privilege of performing in several musicals with Music Theatre Kansas City’s professional company, under the direction of Julie Danelson and David Gomez. While in Kansas City, she enjoyed choreographing for school projects, passion projects, as well as many local schools and theater companies. After a few years of professional experience in Kansas City, Laura relocated to New York City where she has performed with the Gallery Players and in Steps on Broadway’s Industry Showcases. In NYC, Laura has been training in the Jack Cole jazz technique under the direction of Cam Loeser, and she has presented her choreography in The Study Series hosted by and performed at Arts on Site. In the city, she takes class, attends workshops, auditions, and is always on the lookout for her next endeavor!
