Wieder mal erweist sich Ulm als Ausstellungsort für hochkarätige Fotografinnen und Fotografen. Diesmal nicht im Stadthaus, sondern in der symbolträchtigen Sebastianskapelle. Laura Zalengas Arbeiten sind ausgesprochen vielseitige und sehenswerte Selbstportraits, aber nicht unbedingt "Instagram-ready".
Die Künstlerin war zur Vernissage und zur Kulturnacht anwesend, ich hatte das Glück, ihr zu begegnen. Vor Begeisterung vergaß ich, ein Foto zu erbitten. Ob Laura Zalenga nochmal zum Gespräch mit Besuchern kommt, weiß ich nicht.

My work about the Luchadoras of Ciudad Juárez is currently part of a huge outdoor exhibition in my hometown of Forchheim! 🔥

Thank you so much for this beautiful opening. It was honestly really emotional to show my work in the city where I was born, with my family there and so many people I know (my dad on picture 2, my mum on picture 10) ❤️

I love outdoor exhibitions, they’re free to visit, open to everyone, and the work becomes part of everyday life.

It is great to be exhibiting next to amazing photographers like @alecegarra , whose work about the Mexican border connects so beautifully with mine, and @laurazalenga , whose work I’ve loved for years. I finally met her in person for the first time and immediately fell in love with her. 🫶

You can see the exhibition 24/7 until October 25th in Stadtpark Forchheim.

Manchmal vergisst man, wie schön es eigentlich direkt vor der eigenen Haustür ist. Dichte grüne Wälder, absolute Ruhe und morgens Eichhörnchen und Hasen direkt vor dem Fenster.

Wir haben das Wochenende mit Freunden in der Ferienhaus Lichtung in Ruhla verbracht, mitten im Thüringer Wald und nur wenige Meter vom Rennsteig entfernt. Rund um Ruhla gibt es jede Menge Wanderwege, Aussichtspunkte und kleine Ausflugsziele. Vom Rennsteig über den Alexanderturm bis zum mini-a-thür und der Sommerrodelbahn ist gerade mit Kindern einiges dabei

Manchmal reichen ein paar Tage Wald, Ruhe, gute Gespräche und ein kleiner Tapetenwechsel, um mit ziemlich vollem Akku wieder nach Hause zu fahren.

Wann habt ihr zuletzt Urlaub in der eigenen Heimat gemacht?

Anmerkung: Hunde sind dort eigentlich nicht erlaubt, in unserem Fall hat der Hund samt Herrchen im Camper Van geschlafen und war nur Tagesgast.

Lately, whenever I’m at my parents’ place, Nono follows me everywhere and stays right by my side. I’ve been struggling, and having them around comforts me more than I can really explain. On Monday, during a lovely video call with @laurazalenga, she took a screenshot of one of those quiet moments. Nono really is my biggest source of emotional support and my best friend.

Be kind to each other. Even the smallest gesture can brighten someone’s whole day.
