COVID-Conscious Nosferatu (1922) Screening Revisits Vampire Classic Shaped by a Pandemic

Free on Zoom by the Inspire Performing Arts Collective by and for the Airborne Aware

Free tickets:
Sat: luma.com/8lmdkzg7
Sun: luma.com/xwf174wt

More than a century after the iconic vampire Count Orlok first appeared in cinemas, F.W. Murnau’s Nosferatu is returning for a COVID-conscious screening with live comedic commentary and a short introductory talk, “Nosfer-Achoo!: How Pandemics Shaped the Modern Vampire.” The event is hosted by Inspire Performing Arts Collective by and for the Airborne Aware, who hosted the first COVID-conscious performing arts festival in April, featuring artists such as Phytocene, the Long COVID Kids Choir and selections from playwright Caridad Svich’s The Left.

The free Zoom screenings take place on Saturday, October 24, at 7 p.m. Eastern (4 p.m. Pacific; midnight in the UK), and Sunday, October 25, at 2 p.m. Eastern (11 a.m. Pacific; 6 p.m. UK). The event showcases one of the earliest and most influential horror films, juxtaposing a depiction of infectious disease and mass death during the film’s production in postwar Germany with the experience of the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic.

Got plans next Saturday?
You do now!

Join us over Zoom for live music, an open mic, and a dance party! The Inspire Performing Arts Collective by and for the Airborne Aware was invited to be the virtual host for the Uncovering Apocalypse event at Come Forever Garage in Brooklyn, NY on Saturday, September 26, so we're excited to be there over Zoom and hope you will be too! ***Please note Zoom link will not be included in your confirmation email, but will go out to all registered attendees on Saturday prior to the event.***

We invite you to embrace the end of the world with us. Whether your apocalypse began during colonization, the Industrial Revolution, or the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, we believe that the end of the world is already here, and you're already incredibly well-prepared. This event will begin with Jazz and Leyyi's original music about life in the apocalypse and conclude in a celebration DJ'ed by Mars Dietz and Ashtroboi.

No one will be turned away for lack of funds, but **the space is running out of money**, so we encourage those with means to purchase a ticket. 20% of proceeds will be split among the invited performers, and the remainder will benefit CFE.

Pay what you can and if you can't pay, that's ok, we've got tickets for you too and you're just as welcome!

Congratulations to @lauren_flans, winner of the Inspiring Connection & Community Award from the Inspire Performing Arts Festival!

While the goal of the festival was to bring CC/Airborne Aware performing artists and audiences together to enjoy music, comedy, and theatre in a virtual venue, the mission of the festival was to build community among CC folks who love the arts.

Lauren was instrumental in booking performers, hosting festival events, and building relationships which will endure beyond the festival.

Lauren, you truly embody the spirit of community and we couldn’t have done it without you!
