A year ago, it all started here. ❤️🏁

We showed up to our first ever HYROX in Toronto as a small group, never imagining where this journey would take us.

One year, countless races, and so many finish lines later, we went back where it all began with a bigger community and so much more to be proud of.

Watching our people push their limits, take on new challenges, and cross finish lines together has been the best part of this journey. We couldn’t be prouder of everyone who has been part of it.

A year ago, we never imagined how far we’d come. Today, we get to look back and celebrate it all, together.

Huge thank you to Shawn for capturing these moments and bringing it all full circle. 🫶🏼

3min of TF45 2.0 uncut, with the original music and Rob the MC. It’s truely a symphony of so many things going on all at once.

The best way I can describe what I do to cover an event like this… it’s to open all my senses and intuition to predict and capture but keep the camera flowing to capture the most interesting part of the entire arena. When I lock onto someone, as my body follows them, my head moves to begin to find my next transition and focus. When the time is right, I move the camera to focus onto that subject. And I begin hunting for the next point of attention. It’s really exhilarating when everything flows perfectly and I was able to setup all the best compositions as well. It’s a careful balance of what I see but also what I can predict is going to happen next - and get ready for that.

I shoot my camera on fully manual settings of shutter speed, iso and aperture. Running in and out of the gym, requires a smooth rotation of the aperture to increase and decrease the amount of light coming into the sensor.

Focus is on continuous auto using face detection. I switch to manual focus when something in the foreground is going to pass in front of the subject I am focused on.

In film studies at Emily Carr I loved directors who would do one take continuous shots - to choreograph and setup all the action to sync with every planned path of the camera. I’m trying to accomplish this in real time. I get so excited filming this way.. my mind and body working perfectly to capture.
