POSTS STORIES REELS TAGGED

In 1941, the ladies of Egypt Baptist Church gathered scraps of fabric, steady hands, and countless hours to create this quilt.

This week, it gathered us.

My friend Laurie brought it over, not simply to show a beautiful quilt, but to remember the women whose stitches have outlived them by generations.

Every block tells a story. Every seam carries the touch of someone whose name may no longer be widely known, yet whose work continues to warm hearts decades later.

Perhaps that is the quiet miracle of handmade things. They often outlive us, carrying our care into a future we’ll never see.

Some inherit jewelry.
Some inherit land.
Some inherit a quilt stitched by a room full of women who believed that love could be sewn into cloth.

Those are the stories worth keeping.
