“Opal”

Poetry by @lavandeworld
Art by @bbe_designs

“I went up to the roof with my neighbour Mimi to watch and we sunk a bottle of wine and talked about the timelessness of things during an eclipse, especially how the darkness that descends during is nothing like sunset, nothing like nighttime, nothing like twilight, just sort of a low-hanging shadow. A shadow felt once in a generation. I told her about a recent revelation I’d had that was helping me handle the transient nature of time and the feeling that I wasn’t going ‘fast enough’ towards my dreams and had ‘wasted’ so much time. Much like the idea that time and progress are not linear, I’d realised that life works in chapters. Some chapters are for rest and renumeration, some are for learning through hardships. Some are so slow and stagnant you feel like you’re barely moving, and some are so accelerated that in a short space of time, you can somehow accomplish so much. These are the musings that soothe me when I lie awake at night wondering, so I put them to the page”
