We are delighted to announce that Static Focus and Gurdian were selected for CINANIMA - International Animated Film Festival. The festival took place from the 13th to the 19th of November in Espinho, Portugal.
Both films were screened in the INTERNATIONAL COMPETITION - Student Films.
CINANIMA’s first edition launched in 1976 and during its 47 years of activity, CINANIMA has contributed to creating new audiences for this art form, encouraging the everyone to recognize the value of animation cinema. Pushing aside the prejudice that animation is only for children and confirming animation as an outstanding artistic and multidisciplinary communication platform.
Alongside the screenings CINANIMA hosts numerous exhibitions, workshops and live performances.
Well done on the selections everyone!

Hey we hope you're all tuning in for our grand debut!!

Hopefully you enjoy our film, we all worked incredibly hard on it and we're so excited for you to all see it!!

The film can also be found (in much better quality) on YouTube via the link in our bio!!

Synopsis:
An animated short film following Stevie, a TV-headed character in a TV head world. Unlike the other TV-headed people in the Advertising studio Stevie works in, he is unable to control his focus, others use their remotes to help keep on track, but Stevie is without a remote and that makes staying focused a little more difficult for him than most. We follow Stevie as he tries to get on with his day and overcome his struggles.

Tis the boy, Stevie!!

And here is the final turn around sheets and character expression pages. These were drawn by @lawson__j with the help from @abidoesart @michaelvlockey and @party.braids

In these we really tried to solidify the character and bring in all of the elements we liked across the previous designs. It's also here where it was set in stone that Stevie would have an iconic Red hoodie and we couldn't be happier with his design. This design really was only possible because of the hardwork of the team and we hope you love this TV lad as much as we do!!

(Also enjoy a lil look at a 3D head bust Jai modelled so that we'd have a solid foundation for reference given that Stevie is a cuboid boy and that's a tricky thing to deal with in 2D haha)
