Good music doesn’t fit in one box. Neither do we.

Black fans showed up for every part of @aftershockfestival 2026, with Wu Tang Clan and Body Count featuring Ice-T alongside Tool, My Chemical Romance, Pierce the Veil, Dance Gavin Dance and more. A little nostalgia, a lot of volume, and four days of finding your folks. This is Aftershock 2026 at #DiscoveryPark as documented by The OBSERVER.

Good music doesn’t age. We do. @aftershockfestival brought the nostalgia heavy, from Wu Tang Clan and Public Enemy to Tool, Limp Bizkit and My Chemical Romance. And Black fans were in the mix for all of it. Rock. Hip hop. Metal. Alternative. No boxes necessary. ✍🏾: @mxwallace001

New work joins “A Spectrum of Solace,” my living collection of atypical antifascist fine art photography, with each gorgeously crafted image a choice against inaction & despair, & a source of joy for observers.

I weaponize beauty & delight — both created & curated from nature — against the cornball fascist bastards running/ruining the US, & gathering power globally.

Come see. Pull up. Tap in. Bring your friends & beloveds. Find joy in beauty, & ruin a fascist’s day.

Opening reception: 4-6pm, Second Saturday, 10-Oct. Old Soul Co. at the Weatherstone. 812 21st St, Sac.

I’m honored to be part of the conversation, written in The Black Owned News Paper, @sacobserver , regarding increasing access to education, professionals, and resources for Black mothers who intend to breastfeed.

I can only hope my story, and the stories of others, can inspire more black mothers to breastfeed and increase their duration because the health benefits for both baby and mother are profound.

“Nationally, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention research shows Black mothers are less likely to initiate breastfeeding than white mothers. This difference is not simply about choice; it also reflects barriers like access to lactation care, hospital support, and workplace conditions.”
-Neenma Ebeledike, Observer Staff Writer

“Rahotep sought help from her midwife and other breastfeeding specialists before being connected with @nourishingjustly Kavisa Cyprian Wood (IBCLC).
...She called family and friends who had breastfed and asked what helped them continue. She used affirmations. She listened to music. She learned to give herself permission to stop if breastfeeding became too much.

Once she stopped thinking that continuing was something she had to prove, she said, taking it one feeding at a time became easier.
Fourteen months later, she is still breastfeeding.

“No woman should do this on their own,” Rahotep said. “Parenting, breastfeeding, it’s supposed to be a village thing.”

.....
Come to think of it, I did my Senior Thesis in college on Breastfeeding in the Black Community - Intent, Initiation, and Duration ‘2011.
What a full-circle moment.

Thank you for such a vital and beautifully written article,
