I love discovering new things in NYC.

Today I noticed there's a new Fauchon that's opened up on 42nd street at 2 Bryant Park.

A little bit of Paris here in NYC ❤️. Made me miss walking in the 8th and stopping in for something sweet.

Somehow I knew I needed to be here. It was such a gift + game changer to be here for undergrad, grad + more grad. ❤️ being on campus on a ☀️ day where the students were out enjoying themselves.

An enclave in the midst of an amazing diverse city. Some days I think let's do it all again....

Long before Gerwig was everywhere, she was at the gates of 116th Street and Broadway — on the Barnard campus.

Gerwig told reporters during a press junket that she had planned to study musical theatre at either NYU or UCLA. But on a trip to New York City, her father encouraged her to visit Barnard and Columbia. “We did the tour of Columbia, and I liked it. But when I went to Barnard, I wanted to be all the women I met there,” said Gerwig. “I was instantly drawn to the place and the women. They all seemed like superheroes to me. And my whole life plan changed.” Even though she missed the early admissions deadline, she wrote to the admissions office, “If I don’t get in, save my application because I’ll be applying as a transfer next year.”

A terrific long weekend in santa barbara and montecito celebrating one of my longtime besties @adderleyjanet aka janet adderley and the 30th anniversary of her amazing @adderley_school for the performing arts. I watched Janet start teaching musical theatre to kids in santa monica as an after school activity 30 years ago and now she has 5 schools in California, Texas, Connecticut and Louisiana , accomplished alumni like @benplatt and @jackdylangrazer, and had a tremendous anniversary ceremony hosted by @j_corden aka james corden and featuring a performance by @thekennyloggins. She does not just teach kids how to sing, dance and act, she teaches them essential life skills. Friends came in from all over to celebrate. BRAVA JANET! And she was joined by her fabulous mother who was the first Black person to receive a PH.D in mathematics from @riceuniversity . A great bit of icing for me was running into @cheetahgirl @sabrina.bryan at the @rosewoodmiramarbeach ! We have not seen each other in forever and it was a tearful reunion. She was 16 when we made the first movie and now she is married and the mom of two beautiful children. A wonderful weekend all around.

I was so excited today to see my mother and her other five friends/ classmates of the Spelman class of 1953 enjoying the 70th reunion. This is their 19th reunion that they have attended. It is bittersweet because they were the 5 out of 57 classmates from this class they were able to attend.

These ladies are 91-92 years young. They had a great time being honored and celebrated. They also enjoyed seeing the younger Spelmanites at the Convocation. Afterwards, the daughters and I hosted a luncheon for them at the Kimpton Hotel.

What a memorable day. Amen!

A fabulous day with great girlfriends in LA. Lunch with my longtime friend @sallirichwhit aka salli richardson whitfield. we have been friends since the beginning of our careers in Hollywood and now she is a top director with a huge HBO deal. So proud of her. Then birthday dinner @linguafrancarestaurant for my sister girlfriend @lc_keith aka leah keith with our longtime girlfriend group @kfoxla aka kimiko fox and @adderleyjanet. A good LA day.
