POSTS STORIES REELS TAGGED

We don’t do “back to school is easy.” We do oatmeal on the shirt, a mystery mom who knows your name, and a kid who thinks you’re running for office.

Comment the number that’s most you this week. Our are the socks. Every single morning.

What does a scary movie have to do with your pelvic floor?

More than you might think.

I interviewed @leadphysio , a physiotherapist who specializes in pelvic floor health. She explains a interesting study where women watched a scary movie while researchers observed what happened to their pelvic floor muscles.

The womens pelvic floor muscles tightened before the rest of their body even reacted.

Why does this matter?

Because your pelvic floor isn’t just something to think about during pregnancy, birth, or postpartum. It’s connected to your nervous system and can respond to stress, fear, tension, and other everyday experiences.

Understanding how your pelvic floor works can help you better understand your body. Especially during pregnancy, birth and postpartum💗

Save this for later and follow for more postpartum education!

Three things that improve pelvic floor function (none are what you think).

The pelvic floor does a lot more than just hold things up — and it responds to your whole body, not just isolated exercises.

1️⃣ Deep, diaphragmatic breathing
Your diaphragm and pelvic floor move together.
Better breathing = better relaxation + better coordination.

2️⃣ Strength training (especially glutes + core)
A strong lower body supports pelvic stability and reduces extra load on your pelvic floor.
Think squats, bridges, deadlifts, functional movement.

3️⃣ Estrogen support
Estrogen helps tissue elasticity and pelvic floor comfort — especially in perimenopause, post-menopause, or postpartum.
Vaginal estrogen can improve dryness, discomfort, and support pelvic floor therapy.

Your pelvic floor is part of a system, not an isolated muscle.
Small changes can make a big difference.
