When community comes together, possibility becomes practice. ✊🏾👑 Saturday reminded me what becomes possible when we center our children and create the conditions for them to: imagine, create, learn, rejoice, build, and grow together. For more than 16 years, beginning in 2010, Kingmakers of Oakland has curated ManUp and Kings in the Making as sacred spaces where Black boys and young men are surrounded by community, culture, knowledge, love, and possibility. From "Your Health Is Your Wealth" and "Hip Hop Heals" to "Redefining What’s Possible", each gathering has asked our Kings to see themselves, and their futures, more expansively. Saturday, at our 31st BiAnnual ManUp/Kings in the Making, the invitation was: 🎮 Architects of the Arcade. Not simply to talk about the future. To build it. Deep gratitude to Dr. @Sharlonda Gregory, Principal of @metwesthighschool, for opening her school and welcoming our village into the space. Throughout the day, our Kings engaged in interactive workshops, conversations, creative challenges, gaming, and intergenerational experiences designed to build relationships, spark curiosity, share knowledge, and strengthen their capacity to imagine what is possible for themselves, their families, and their communities. This gathering was especially powerful because Kings in the Making aligned with @oaklandtechweek Through our Sankofa Kings program, @kingmakersofoakland is creating an entry point for young people into the local, national, and global conversation around responsible AI. But our starting point is intentional: Before Artificial Intelligence, we begin with Ancestral Intelligence. Before asking what technology can do, we ask our Kings: WHO are you? WHOSE are you? We study the algorithms that existed long before computers, the ways our ancestors organized, communicated, created, healed, protected one another, transferred knowledge, built community, practiced sovereignty, and generated prosperity. Then we ask: How can today’s technology serve those same human purposes? Because our Kings cannot only be consumers of the technology shaping their future. They must become creators. Designers. Builders. Owners...

Does technology create freedom? My answer to that question is: it depends on who is building it. The unique aspect of @oaklandtechweek is its creators: community builders, problem solvers, innovators who want to bring power to the people. Community members who believe another world is possible. It’s such an honor to kick off Oakland Tech Week with community architects, nonprofit leaders, and multi-hyphenates who are being recognized by Poster Child and whose stories are uplifted by visionary leaders like Leandrew Robinson and his team. Deeply honored to build with you, Oakland, and ever grateful for your mentorship @leandrewr 🙌❤️‍🔥 Words: Mine Image by Poster Child

That’s a wrap on our Kings in the Making: The AI² Lab — Ancestral Intelligence × Artificial Intelligence event! We want to thank our kings for showing up and bringing their creativity, vision, and light into the space. Thank you to our community that made this event a powerful moment to remember. “Darkness cannot drive out darkness; only light can do that. Hate cannot drive out hate; only love can do that.” — Martin Luther King Jr. The community and togetherness we experienced this weekend is the kind of love that will continue to drive out hate. We continue to move with love. 🤎🤲🏾 #kingmakersofoakland #martinlutherking #love #community #kingsinthemaking

🌟 Monday Movers & Shakers: Leandrew Robinson | Founder & CEO, PosterChild.ai 🌟 They say nonprofits need more funding. LeAndrew said, they need better storytelling.📣 Too many brilliant organizations were stuck with outdated tools and no time to tell the very stories that fuel their missions. 🧠 So he built PosterChild.ai, a platform that helps them turn real community voices into campaigns that raise real money. 💡 No stock photos. No donor fatigue. Just AI that listens, curates, and amplifies authentic impact, at scale. In just its first year, PosterChild helped clients like Boys & Girls Clubs of Boston And University of California, Berkeley grow their reach and revenue, with one campaign seeing a 350% increase in individual giving. Backed by @collab.capital, @kaporcapital, @precursorvc and others, LeAndrew’s team is on a mission to shift how cause-driven brands engage supporters. And yes, they’ve already raised over $2M to do it. 💰 🏀 In February, PosterChild earned LeAndrew the inaugural @americanexpress Community All‑Star Award... Presented alongside the National Basketball Association (NBA) Foundation at All‑Star weekend, amplifying his mission and spotlighting the synergy of AI storytelling and social impact! LeAndrew, in his own words: “Last night was mad real. I won the first-ever American Express Community award for PosterChild.ai… This is only the beginning and def feels like the point of no return; only up.” We celebrate LeAndrew Robinson this week for building a bridge between innovation and purpose. Because when we empower those doing the work, we multiply the impact. 🔥 #leandrewrobinson #posterchildai #july21 #mondaymoversandshakers #nonprofittech #storytellingforsocialgood #founderspotlight #aiwithpurpose #scalingimpact #venturebackedblackfoundes #representationmatters

Last week, we hosted our 4th Annual Collab Capital Founders’ Retreat in the beautiful community of @serenbe, just outside of Atlanta. Every year, I pour my heart and soul into making this event meaningful for our founders, and this year was our best yet! Our community of founders is getting bigger and it’s always so special to witness them connecting with and learning from each other. A huge thank you to our incredible speakers: •Tyler Scriven, who gave us a powerful primer on leading in the age of AI. •Rhonda Potter, CFA®, CFP®, Tiffany N. McKenzie, and Eddie Bradford, Jr., CPA, who challenged our founders to think intentionally about building a Family Wealth Plan today. •Elliott Robinson, who delivered a much-needed reality check on investor expectations and board governance. •Arthur Tyson III, who broke down the fundamentals of financial hygiene for early-stage founders. •Debo Olaosebikan, who inspired us all with a masterclass in focus, vision, and tuning out the noise to achieve big, bold goals! Congratulations to the inaugural Collab Honors recipients 🎉 : Tracey Pickett – Hairbrella, Alia J. Daniels – Revry, Robbie Felton – IntusCare, Vanessa Rissetto, MS, RD, CDN – Culina Health, Hafeezah Muhammad – Backpack Healthcare, Laurent Vincent – Stack Influence, Dr. Brandon Zimmerman, PhD, – Clear Eye Test, Seth Setse Ayomide Omolewa – a0.dev, Joshua Aviv – SparkCharge, Jasmine Crowe-Houston – Goodr. We also loved having so many friends of Collab join us to celebrate: Chris Moreno, Christopher Gilmore, Aston Motes, Nashlie Sephus, Ph.D., Nefatari Cooper, thank you! And finally, a big thank you to our sponsor, Microsoft for Startups. Tiffany Johnson, Bakari Brock, Isis Simmons, Lora Anis Hanna, we truly appreciate your partnership and support!
