POSTS STORIES REELS TAGGED

I couldn’t sleep the night before I had to jump over 3 Mini cars.

I saw the setup the evening before and my head would not switch off.

On the morning, I was told there would only be cameras. Instead, hundreds of commuters stopped on their route to work to watch.

It felt like hundreds of people waiting for something bad to happen. If I got this wrong, it was serious.

To get through the first jump, I had to take out the outside factors and zone in on what I could control. I reminded myself this is what I did every day in training.

I always competed better when I took the thinking out of my own hands and executed for someone else. So I imagined my coach giving me the instruction. I told myself I am a natural performer and this is what I do.

Ran down, hit the takeoff, nailed it.

The relief was immense. I didn’t die 😂

Then they told me to do it again.

I had not planned for a second jump. In competition, my second jump was usually where overthinking crept in and things got worse.

Standing there trying to calm down, I remembered a song that relaxes me and started singing it to myself. It settled the nerves. I pictured my coach telling me to carry my speed, trusted the approach, and cleared it.

We all get nervous when the pressure is on. What saves you is having simple ways to quiet the noise so your training can take over.

Two jumps was plenty though. As soon as I landed, I told them absolutely no more 😂

No one can do it for you

The decision is yours

Make your future self proud

He won the match in the bathroom.
•
Arthur Fils lost the second set.
•
Before the decider, he looked himself in the mirror and challenged himself.
•
He came back and won the third set 6–0 to lift the Cincinnati Masters title.
•
There was a pivotal moment in all of this.
•
He reset.
•
He got out of his own way.
•
I’ve been there before.
•
As athletes, parents, business owners and leaders, we all have moments where the biggest battle isn’t in front of us…
•
It’s the conversation we’re having with ourselves.
•
The good news?
•
We all have the ability to change the narrative.
•
Train. Think. Perform.

Most people think they need several hours to get a great workout.

Paula has trained with me since 2022.

Last year she added a 30 minute Blast to her weekly training.

I’ll let her explain why 30 is plenty…

30 IS PLENTY.
Train. Think. Perform.

Does this move me towards the person I’m trying to become or keep me where I am?

When I was an athlete, the two hours I trained weren’t the only hours that mattered.

At the time I was part of a sponsorship programme with IHG that helped support athletes.

My job was waiting tables.

I’d finish a hard training session and then go to work.

And strangely, it motivated me.

Because I knew what I wanted my future to look like.

Training was part of getting there. But so were the decisions I made outside of training.

Recovery. Sleep. Nutrition. Preparation. Sacrifice. What I did when nobody was watching.

It’s something I try to teach the people I coach today.

You can train brilliantly with me our session.

But eventually the habits we’re building together have to spill into the rest of your life.

You don’t have to make the perfect decision every time.

Just ask yourself:

Does this move me towards the person I’m trying to become or keep me where I am?

Make enough decisions for your future self and eventually you’ll meet them.

We have hundreds of muscles in the body.
•
Sitting down on a machine is great for isolating a muscle and serves a purpose but if you want to elevate your fitness you should move like an athlete and activate more muscles at a time.
•
Squat. Push. Pull. Carry. Rotate. Jump.
•
Teach multiple muscles and joints to work together as a unit.
•
Because strength in the gym needs to show up when it matters. Whether it’s carrying the shopping, picking up your kids, climbing stairs, living your life.
•
You don’t need to train for hours to do it either.
•
30 Is Plenty.
•
Train. Think. Perform.

One of my favourite coaching moments ❤️
•
I’ve been training Andy while he’s visiting from the US.
•
He’s 81, lives with Parkinson’s and speaks in a whisper. But every session he turns up with determination, humour and a willingness to keep getting stronger.

Today we got talking about where he lives. He lives at altitude and I joked that’s why he’s so strong. I mentioned Josh Kerr trains in Albuquerque, same state. He just broke the mile record. His face lit up. He’s a huge athletics fan and has been watching the Commonwealth Games.

I told him I’d competed there.

Then I told him my long jump best was 26ft 6in.

The smile on his face said everything.

Moments like this remind me that sport is so powerful

It’s creates memories and connections

It gives us stories.

And sometimes, decades later, it still has the power to make someone smile.

Thank you for inspiring me Andy ❤️

How to plate your food
•
I’m not into aesthetic
•
I’m about what is the substance in it!
•
Treat yourself like an F1 car and fuel it accordingly
•
Weekends too many make bad decisions that kill a great week.
•
I can’t be mad at you if I never gave you the blueprint
•
Veg first 1/3 - pack in the colours, fungi and protein rich varieties
•
Protein Half - chicken, turkey, beef, lamb
•
Carbs 1/6 - unless you’re running a marathon or have a crazy day coming. You don’t need as much as you think!
