Barbara Buddeke Ogden to Be Honored at Kindergarten Derby

You are warmly invited to join us for Collegiate’s 64th Kindergarten Derby on Thursday, April 30 at 10:30 a.m. on the Campus Field.

This cherished spring tradition brings our community together to celebrate our youngest students. This year, we will dedicate the first race in memory of beloved Kindergarten teacher, Barbara Buddeke Ogden, whose vision helped grow the Derby into the vibrant, schoolwide tradition it is today.

In addition to honoring Barbara at the Derby, we are leading an effort to raise funds for a broader memorial in her name—one that reflects the many ways she shaped the Collegiate community.

A weekend for the books… watched Austin and Leigh sing and dance their hearts out at the Indigo Girls concert while I held down the chill vibes, grabbed a quick nap, then hit the road with Tamara to the Red where I surprised myself by onsighting my first 5.7 trad. It feels like yesterday and forever. Like brushing teeth, sobriety is daily. Sobriety is peace. It is service to others. It’s staying present. It’s pausing when agitated. It’s deep breaths. This year, we have over 140 students with alumni connections — a beautiful reminder of how deep and enduring the Collegiate community runs across generations. It was a gorgeous day to take the Alumni Connection photo and celebrate this fun and meaningful tradition, recognizing the bonds that continue to shape and support our school in so many ways.

Hear me out.... if you're a perfectionist and you have a bad day and eat all the chocolate in the house, you're going to quit because you don't think you can do this anymore!! You don't want to screw up!! But, if you're in the mindset of knowing it's not all or nothing, you're so much better off. There are going to be times that you're not going to have a stellar day, but that's OK because I'll help you get where you want to be even when you have a bad day. When you're 85% consistent, you're making the progress you need, and a bad day isn't going to bother you at all!!!

I loved the modification for surrender squats. I think I feel it more in my glutes this way and no pressure on the knees
