The most beautiful restaurant of the year 2023! @parcela_tepoztlan is a circular agriculture farm and restaurant in Tepoztlan, Mexico with a view of the nearby mountains 💫💫💫 The food was so fresh and delicious that we came back for breakfast the next day 🤩

driving out to @parcela_tepoztlan in Tepoztlan, Mexico

Another top three favorite places candidate for me this year. Parcella is a farm to table project by a group of friends, entrepreneurs, architects, farmers and chefs. They’re not only serving amazing food but they built an ecological and regenerative food system where everything from food production to trash and scraps becomes a big cycle of life. After driving through cobble stone side streets and dirt roads you arrive to a beautiful and very modern looking farm. You walk through fields of beets, salad, flowers and herbs and you arrive under a beautifully crafted half cylinder architectural round roof structure that shields you from sunlight but still gives you the feeling of sitting right in the fields, with incredible views on the Tepoztlán mountains. The food was so good we came back for brunch the next morning. Some modern European dishes (with stracciatella, pasta, meatballs), some Mexican dishes (Chilaquiles, Ceviche, etc.), and all of it the freshest produce you can think of (obviously) and you can taste it so much! It’s so good I recommend doing a daytrip if you are in Mexico City long enough and also visit the food market (also an absolute food heaven with street vendors) and the cute little village of Tepoztlán while you are there.

diving into food adventures @choza_cdmx in Mexico City

I don’t know were to start. This place probably shot up to one of my top three places this year. But first things first. You don’t find this place if you don’t know about it. No signs, no Google maps, just a black metal door you need to knock, or sometimes you can just get in line to find it because the place gets busy anyways and you might need to cue. Come early! The owner, originally from Brooklyn, openend this place on a semi open piratey rooftop and made it kind of a beergarden concept, where you have to order at the counter. It comes with rough wooden tables, wooden barrels, barstools and hammocks. Sounds weird but it’s actually great and refreshing. And the food is just amazing. There is a lot of open fire cooking, Thai influences, it’s all preetty spicey, which I love, it’s fresh, it’s grilled fish, currys, burger (must!!!), sticky rice, there was a pineapple daiquiri, natural wines and so on. I don’t know it’s just very special, try it!

having Italian food @restauranterosetta in Mexico City

This place is an establishment. If you take the stairs all the way up to the bar you can enjoy flawless cocktails in a comforting, dark and dreamy mix of interior styles. Definitely recommend doing this before or after dinner or just go for the drinks. The restaurant serves very modern, Italian style dishes, with hints of Asian and Mexican flavors sneaking in without it loosing any of the straightness you want from Italian food. Think Persimmon Shiso & Lemon or Gnocchi with Huitlacoche, the delicacy mold/mushroom growing on corn. As always book in advance and ask for a table inside if possible. Outdoor spots are okay too, but the valet parking in the area causes a lot of noise. Besides the interior is insanely cozy with its high ceilings and hanging plants. Would come again 😋

becoming a fish @micompachava in Mexico City (CDMX)

We were checking out some shops in Roma Norte when we found @irrelevante_cdmx . It’s a mix of a gallery and a furniture showroom initiated by an architect from Mexico City, but even more important he had a great recommendation just next door: Mi Compa Chava! It’s a Sinaloan seafood restaurant located in the Roma neighborhood serving everything fish and seafood. Fire grilled fish, aguachiles and seafood towers, the list goes on and on. It’s a very relaxed bistro vibe, and the food is great and fresh. Pro tip (because we did it all wrong): don’t order too much raw fish. Ceviche OR seafood tower, one is enough :D but take more grilled options instead, but depends on what you like of course. That aside we loved the food and experience, service was nice and we got lucky with a table, so great evening. And def recommend the grilled banana dessert 🐟🐠🍣🍤🐡🍌

starting your night off @paramo_roma

Páramo is a buzzing place serving a variety of mexican starters and a big selection of tacos, very nice to start your trip here. Work your way through to the bar and have a drink while you are waiting for a table, because they don’t take reservations. We recommend the ceviche and the tuna tacos! The food is good, will not blow your mind, but the vibe of the place will definitely give you the feeling of being at the right place to kick off your stay. If you are in the mood for good drinks and djs check out the rooftop bar @departamento_studiobar!
