The fourth Works In Progress is behind us, featuring artists who developed a new body (!) of objects and furniture for this occasion. Together we accidentally opened a full-fledged retail store in a few months. Within that store were a multitude of processes pushed and refined, and new forms that considered how daily rituals can make life more special.

We continue to be floored by the talent and depth that exists here in the Bay Area. First at FOG Fair surrounded by international galleries we admire, and then later at Castle amongst furniture from legendary historical designers, these works were right at home. More of this!

For our fourth edition, Works In Progress is hosting a special retail booth at @fogfair FOG MRKT 2026, with handcrafted objects for the entryway.

Bay area-based artists + designers dove into the transitional moment that exists at the threshold of our homes. Through the form of mirrors, stools, hooks, trays, and mail holders, they envisioned the many ways these objects mark the shift between inner and outer worlds.

This collection includes brand new small editions and one-of-a-kinds. It’s a different format than our usual, where you can actually take a piece home with you. We can’t wait for you to see what this group of artists has created.

Come visit us at the entrance of Fort Mason, Pier 3. Tickets can be purchased at fogfair.com

Works In Progress II is in the running for best Exhibition Design at the Dezeen Awards 2025, alongside fourteen other profound exhibitions from all over Asia, Africa, and Europe!

Huge thank you @dezeen @dezeenawards_ ⭐️

The exhibition took place at the historic MacLac paint and lacquer factory, so it had to be designed without any permanent impact to the architecture. Its interior, with a cavernous ground floor and pitched mezzanine, challenged us to design a considerate flow through the space while telling the story of co-creation. We focused on creating a layout that encouraged exploration and slower engagement. A selection of the objects harmonized with minimal, reusable white-patinated aluminum pillars, built by the WIP team. Text and signage was intentionally omitted from the spatial experience, allowing visitors to engage directly with the work. Moving through vignettes of works that were crafted both individually and together, visitors grasped the nucleus of each practice and the complex process of collaboration: the intentions behind material, the overlapping of concepts, and the enmeshing of human hands.

All was in hopes of honoring the monumental work done by a group of artist and designers, who met a wild prompt with grace and agility:
