It’s been an honor to be back in Arkansas this summer serving on faculty alongside @drtonymac, @reginaldjames73, @lenoragreenroomstudios, Jake Hertzog & JK Njenga for the Black Sacred Music (BSM) Masters degree program at the University of Arkansas! These students have truly been a breath of fresh air! I must thank @jallenmurdock for your vision in bringing such a profound and needed program to academia, especially here in Arkansas!

In addition to being on faculty, I’m also honored to serve as the guest Artist in Residence for the BSM culminating concert featuring the Arkansas Gospel Chorale and a host of some very special guests! This is an event that you don’t want to miss!

This is a FREE event, but tickets must be reserved! Tickets are available for reservation now at https://faulkneruark.vbotickets.com/event/Heaven_Hears_Us_Psalms_Praise_and_the_Preservation_of_Black_Sacred_Music/200605!

We have a spirit-filled evening of choral and instrumental music, storytelling, liturgical dance, and so much more, as we celebrate and preserve the sacredness, vastness and power of the black church experience!

Reserve your seat today and bring a friend or two!

I am so incredibly honored and grateful to have performed in the University of Arkansas Masterworks Concert on April 27th! Getting to sing an aria from L’elisir d’amore with the University Symphony Orchestra, Dr. Justin Kroll, and all 5 university choirs was so special. Thank you to Dr. Jeffrey Murdock and Jason Burrow for this wonderful opportunity!

The University of Arkansas is truly a special place! I’ve struggled to keep track of how much magic was made during these past 4 months. The students have hearts of pure gold and yearn for an education that will prepare them as professionals and as humans. It was my mission to be that for them: to guide them gracefully through the unknown, and to still have high expectations of them in the midst of it all. What a joy it was to exist among such outstanding humans, I am better because I’ve met and worked with them, and God’s timing was and will always be perfect.

My colleagues were extraordinary musicians and the most down to earth geniuses for the ways that you dream for these students. I hope that your students know how much of a treasure each of you are to this institution, and the longevity of excellence that will linger, so long as you are here. Thank you for being so warm and welcoming, making my experience that much sweeter!

Dr. Murdock, you’re my angel, and I am forever indebted to you for trusting me. God is going to do some amazing things for you because of your life’s mission to elevate everyone around you. I love you, man. And I appreciate you, more than any words can express.

I am deeply grateful 🙏🏾 I couldn’t capture it all. But, I hope that this photo compilation helps you to see just why I am so grateful!

The autumn leaves
Are too heavy with color.
The slender trees
On the Vulcan Road
Are dressed in scarlet and gold
Like young courtesans
Waiting for their lovers.
But soon
The winter winds
Will strip their bodies bare
And then
The sharp, sleet-stung
Caresses of cold
Will be their only
Love.
