I've managed a little bit of sewing for Olive in between orchid hunting these holidays.
The Ida skirt by @leonieay_ in linen from @potter_and_co_australia - the perfect combination!!
Great pattern, good instructions and made into a maxi length.

Here’s all my sewing inspo and patterns for fall!!⭐️
Probably gonna sew them through fall and winter so let me buy my fabrics and let’s keep sewing my wardrobe!!

It took me a while to make this post because I have very specific clothes I want to make, and finding good patterns when the market is oversaturated with AI patterns is a nightmare (Etsy I’m talking to you)
So here’s my pick of a few patterns that match my fall inspo!!! Lots of them are very versatile and can be made in every season with just different fabrics!! And remember you have free will so hack that pattern, make it wider, shorter, long sleeve etc etc 🧚🏼‍♀️

📍Patterns listed in order :

I am such a toile believer! 💕

It’s so funny how much your perspective changes when you’re learning to sew! Within the last few months, I have really learned the importance of making a toile. This is such a necessary step when pattern testing to work out any fit issues on a less expensive piece of fabric, but more than that, it helps you visualize how you’ll be wearing it too! I am going to be making (hopefully wearable) toiles for every new pattern I try for the foreseeable future because I am watching my sewing skills improve as I make them!

This is the last part of making my Hanni dress! You can watch parts 1 and 2 in my reels tab. I look forward to doing more chatty and voiceover reels soon, especially since I just got a microphone which will help sound quality immensely!

Pattern: The Hanni Dress by @leonieay_
Toile Purple: poly cotton broadcloth @sasfabrics_tempe
Final Brown: Brown 100% Linen from JoAnn (RIP) and bias tape from floral quilting cotton @hobbylobby

I made a size XL with some dart placement/size alterations to fit my bust. My toile was the long version with invisible bias tape, and my final was short with visible bias tape - I love them both!

Anyone else find moodboarding and planning out their makes visually super funn and creatively stimulating particularly when you don’t have time to sew?? Just me?

A little glimpse at my spring sewing plans 🌸🌼

Pulling it together like this was genuinely so useful for me to see how pieces feel together instead of just being separate makes. And honestly it’s got me sooo ready for some warmer weather already☀️🌞🌺

Are any of these fabrics or patterns on your make list? What else you’re making for spring or autumn?? Always interested in other people’s plans and creative process 🧐

Wandering the streets of Kurashiki in my handmade Hanni dress, it felt like it was right at home with the vibrant greens all around the stunning Bikan district. Kojima and Kurashiki are the epitome of Japanese denim, so to leave without some fresh denim fabric would have been a crime I wasn’t willing to commit! 🛍️

When I first saw the @leonieay_ “Hanni” dress pattern, I fell in love. I used a linen blend that I have had for several years now, but did end up expediting some bias tape so I could knock this out before vacation. I can’t wait to make this one again with a few neckline hacks, longer length and maybe some fun appliqués.

We’re back for part 2 of making the Hanni Dress by @leonieay_ sewing it up! This was such a quick make for how stunning the final product is! It didn’t take me long to dig into my nicer fabric and make a second version! Be sure to check back for that!
