National coming out day had us thinking, honestly how hard it was when we were in a position where we were thinking about coming out, so we wanted to share a few words - it’s been a long time since then, nearly 10 years, but as femme presenting lesbians we have to come out on a daily basis, as the world still has its stereotypes they they struggle to look past. They see a femme presenting woman and assume they must be straight, we will keep fighting for the stereotype to be broken. So lesbians don’t feel like they have to look a certain way to be gay, or so maybe people think twice before saying “do you have a boyfriend”.

Coming out isn’t easy, but it’s so worth it. To anyone who’s scared to come out, we promise, there’s so much love waiting for you on the other side, it might not feel it right now, but there’s so much more to lose by not living the life true to you.

We were really nervous about starting couples therapy and opening up the hard conversations that a lot of people avoid.

But we both decided that the only way to make real genuine growth from where we were was the confront these harder topics head on and together, people have mixed opinions on what starting couples therapy means, a lot of people assume that you only go to couples therapy when your relationships on it’s last legs but really it’s the ultimate commitment for two people who want to grow together when life has thrown challenges that would otherwise drive them apart.

We are learning how to work with each others nervous systems, this may take time but we are here for the journey, nothing worth having comes easy.
