and just like that, Jenin Culture Club is officially launched.
Something YOU have been building towards without us fully realizing… the workshops, tastings, curated events, fermentation sessions, the intimate gatherings. The club that came to life organically. We are now simply giving it a name.

It started with our community. it’ll keep growing with you.
From Soil to Soul at @mizaabudhabi to the official launch at Al Serkal at @anaminfest last month, Jenin Culture Club is our people, good food, rooted and curated experiences, and a community that keeps showing up.

الصوت في الخلفية هو “ندبة الشحوح” ✨
وهو فن صوتي تراثي متوارث من المناطق الجبلية في شمال شرق شبه الجزيرة العربية، اشتهرت به قبيلة الشحوح. يُعرف بقوة أدائه وارتباطه بروح النخوة والفخر والكرم والاحتفال، ويعكس تاريخ المجتمع وهويته واعتزازه بالحفاظ على تراثه الثقافي.

A traditional vocal heritage art passed down through generations in the mountainous regions of the northeastern Arabian Peninsula, widely associated with the Shehuh tribe. Known for its powerful performance, it carries meanings of pride, courage, generosity, and celebration, reflecting the community’s history, identity, and deep connection to preserving its cultural heritage.

At the Al Hosn Festival in Abu Dhabi, visitors experience the living traditions of Emirati culture through music, dance, storytelling, and handmade crafts. One of the most captivating performances is the traditional women’s hair dance, where girls rhythmically swing their long hair to the beat of drums and songs, expressing beauty, pride, and heritage. Across the festival, artisans demonstrate crafts such as weaving, pottery, embroidery, perfume making, and palm-leaf weaving, keeping ancient skills alive for future generations. The festival, held at Qasr Al Hosn, creates a strong connection between the past and present of Abu Dhabi.

Accounts like “Less We Forget” and “Before It’s Forgotten” also help preserve and share memories of Gulf heritage, traditional customs, and cultural identity through photography, stories, and archival material. ❤️

Lest We Forget use Studio 11 as their office and Studio 23 as their archival space. They are an innovative archival and research initiative that documents Emirati vernacular cultural memory and generates contemporary responses through the use of artistic language.
