SALVADOR DALI'S TAROT Hardcover.....RACHEL POLLACK 176 pgs, 9×5.5 SALEM HOUSE PUB, 1985. NO DUST JACKET $50 Rachel Pollack is an American science fiction author, comic book writer, and expert on divinatory tarot. Pollack has been a great influence on the women's spirituality movement. The book provides a COMMENTARY on EVERY card, with BEAUTIFUL full-color reproductions of EACH design. It's complete, and beautifully done! From the Text: “There are two motifs which Dali used throughout the deck: the butterfly and the linear figures. Both motifs can be seen in The Fool, shown above. On the left is the figurative image of a person raising a staff above the Fool’s head.” “ The staff reflects the shape of Hebrew letter Shin. The figure is also painted in red which may represent the element associated with this Hebrew letter: Fire. A blue butterfly can be seen over the belly of the rider, and a pattern of butterfly wings can be seen in the blanket which covers the horse. “ “The intellectual plane is symbolized by butterflies, expressive of irrationality and the alienated soul, the consequence of fickleness and disorder.” The Fool himself is not identified, but appears to be a depiction of either a saint or Don Quixote. The “prophetic meaning” given for this card is the expiation of disorder. The Lovers, which incorporates a painting by Gossaert of Adam and Eve. TAROT and DIVINATION Cards: A VISUAL Archive Hardcover LAETITIA BARBIER’S ’s Tarot and Divination Cards is a STUNNING visual history of tarot.…. 400-pages, 8x10" , $40 Used for self-exploration or divination, tarot has, for more than 500 years, been the most popular and accessible of all esoteric tools, looming large in today’s mainstream culture. Why? Because the cards are inexpensive and easy to carry—a perfect traveling companion and, therefore, an invitation to a journey inward and out. Humans are drawn to playing games and feel driven to find meaning in the chaos of paradoxical signs. The vivid iconography of the “Arcanas” speak to us like no other language, moving us to the core, weaving through each card a universal story, a metaphorical pathway of transformation. This 400-page book presents—for the first time—a close look at 500 years of figurative card decks created or used for fortune telling, divinations, and oracle purposes, and explores, one card at the time, their iconographic roots at the crossroads of the medieval imaginarium, Western ESOTERIC wisdom, FOLKLORE, and also contemporary art and pop culture. With hundreds of images drawn from more than 100 decks, rarely published and often forgotten in library archives, this book offers the first visual history of tarot. Laetitia Barbier’s Tarot and Divination Cards is a stunning VISUAL history of tarot. MORE pics on our website JOETHETATTOOGUY.com More ART. MORE TAROT!
