Our Arbour Lake store has a fresh new look! 🌱

We teamed up with Calgary artist 🎨Chelsey Dyer (@letter.buck) to bring a little more colour to the neighbourhood. Her idea was to show all the goodness inside the store, on the outside: local crops, a picnic basket full of fresh finds, and a message straight from our mission, “Nourishing Our Community.”

Every detail was painted by hand, and we couldn’t be happier with how it turned out. Thank you, Chelsey, for bringing it to life! ✨

Next time you’re at Arbour Lake, swing by the side of the store and take a look. Tag us if you snap a photo 📸

We are overwhelmed, overjoyed and over the moon for everyone who supported our big 50th anniversary bash last weekend! You spoiled us with visits, flowers, goodies, kind words, the whole lot. Our store wouldn’t be what it is without all of you, and our hearts are beyond full. ❤️

Huge thanks to the authors who joined us: James Fell, Jessica Waite, Lori Beattie, Ali Bryan, Will Ferguson, Julie Van Rosendaal, and Genevieve Graham. And to Kasia, Ashley, and Kelly, three of our fave Bookstagrammers, thank you for making our giveaway extra special and for always championing The Nest.

A big shoutout to Chelsey from Letter Buck as well for the gorgeous anniversary designs. We are OBSESSED!

To the publishers, our Plaza neighbours, and all you incredible reading legends, you showed up big time, and we can’t thank you enough! You made it a weekend we won’t stop talking about anytime soon!

This is very special one! I get to share a piece close to my heart AND more importantly get to congratulate @emilyvtriggs on her album The Great Escape landing on No. 3 on CKUA’s Top 100 Albums of 2024!!

Emily’s voice and lyrics take you through a tapestry of texture and colour and it seemed risograph textures were the best way to capture the contrast of dreaminess and grittiness she’s created. Thank YOU, Em for your trust and time on this project it’s meant the world to bring it to life with you.

I sewed a corset (for the first time!!) for an incredible faerie costume ball hosted by @gildedexperiences

Immensely proud of how it turned out even though there was much seam-ripping and cursing when I ran out of rivets 🤭 tho it withstood a night of dancing and faerie wine so I built it sturdy!

The fabric is the very same that Stede Bonnet’s dressing robe is made from in #ourflagmeansdeath 🏴‍☠️

Our children’s book “My Momma Loves Me” is live on kickstarter!
LINK IN BIO!

We are thrilled to announce our children’s book, My Momma Loves Me. This heartwarming story is about the unconditional love that all mothers have for their children. Based on a 2016 Canadian research study in which mothers shared their journeys of being involved in the child welfare system with their children, authors Christine Walsh and Hee-Jeong Yoo tell a poetic story of the universality of a mother’s love. Perfect for readers 0-8+ years old that love animal facts and snuggly bedtime stories.
