The Sunday scaries are officially a thing of the past. 🤍 One of the biggest changes I’ve noticed since becoming alcohol-free is how differently I experience Sundays. I used to associate Sundays with hangovers, overwhelming anxiety, overthinking everything I’d said or done the night before, and that horrible feeling of dread about the week ahead. Even if I’d had a lovely weekend, alcohol would somehow leave me feeling anxious, exhausted and emotionally drained. And the worst part? I used to think that was just a normal part of life. Fast forward to now, and I can genuinely say my Sunday scaries have completely disappeared. My Sundays are now filled with slow mornings, coffee dates, good food, little outings and simply enjoying being present. I’m no longer spending the day recovering from the night before or wishing the hours away until I feel normal again. Of course, being alcohol-free doesn’t mean life is suddenly perfect or that I never experience anxiety. But removing alcohol has made such a difference to how I feel, especially on weekends. I’m learning that peace doesn’t have to come from having the perfect routine, constantly being productive or filling every minute of the day. Sometimes happiness really is as simple as waking up feeling refreshed, enjoying a coffee and knowing you have absolutely nothing to recover from. If you’re sober curious, cutting back or just starting your alcohol-free journey, I hope this reminds you of one of the many things you have to look forward to. You aren’t missing out on anything. You’re gaining so much more than you realise. Here’s to peaceful Sundays and never having to experience another alcohol-induced Sunday scary. 🤍 Has anyone else noticed their Sunday anxiety disappearing since giving up alcohol? I’d love to hear your experience! #AlcoholFree #SoberCurious #SobrietyJourney #SundayScaries #soberlife

It’sssss spoOoOoky season! Here’s your lowdown… half term runs Monday 26 to Friday 30 October and the good stuff is already going. St Fagans has already sold out one of its three nights and it is not even the middle of the month. 👻 From a pumpkin field to an orchestra in a cathedral. Every one has the dates, times and prices on it, so you can book straight away! Swipe through, save it, send it to whoever does the planning in your house. Which one are you doing? 🎃 @clearwellfarm - Twenty minutes from the centre and the cheapest thing on this list at a fiver. The daytime run is the easy one with small children, but the twilight sessions are the ones people talk about, with live music and the whole village lit up. Selected dates right through to the 31st. 🎃 @foragefarmshop - Priced per car rather than per head, up to five people, so this is the one to do with another family and split. Daytime is maize maze, trailer rides and animals. From the 16th the twilight session turns the same site into a scare maze with live actors, fire performers and stilt walkers. Ages 8 and up for this one. 🎃 @clearwellfarm - Same farm, opposite end of the scale. Several scare zones, a cursed village, a Terror Tunnel and a travelling circus that is new this year. Your ticket covers farm entry too. Genuinely not one for the children, and the dates cluster around half term, so book early. 🎃 @walesmillenniumcentre - The grown ups’ night out of the list. Originals, left field covers and a few Halloween standards in the Cabaret space at the Centre, with a prize for the best costume in the room. Over 18s, doors at 7pm, and there are discounts for students, under 30s, unwaged and groups of ten or more. 🎃 @letthemseecake - Free entry, two hours, no ticket, no booking, no faff. Turn up in costume between 5pm and 7pm on the Tuesday of half term and treat yourself to a ghost cupcake. If you are trying to do something with the children that costs very little and takes no planning, this is it. 🎃 @cardiff_castle - Four sessions across the day and only an hour each, so it slots around whatever else you have on. Tarantulas, snakes and scorpions to actually handle, run
