I didn’t make this album alone. The last two years I have had the pleasure to work with people I dreamed of working together with. Come with me to the beginning of this journey. ❤️ Swipe to the right →

Everything I do, I do with @rrubennz and @koenhrms . From writing music to finishing an album. From having a vision to rocking it on stage. Koen felt like mixing the album and so he did. Ruben said ‘yeah, I’ll be the musical director of our new live show, and here we are going on tour with a show he made from beginning till end. 2 years ago we went to Almería to disappear for a month. That’s where we wrote the start of ‘Egoísta’.

@toscasve followed us for 2 years with her camera. She shot the Egoísta cover and all the single artworks, caught the essence of how I’d like to express myself and produced the clip shoot for Egoísta in the Tabernas desert. I’m deeply inspired by this woman who taught me that there is no such thing as impossible.

Shortly after Almería, we had our first sessions with @joycie . With a bunch of songs in my suitcase a river of ideas regarding visual concepts accelerated its current, ideas that have now become reality thanks to her.

When we finished the demos, I wanted to fine tune my lyrics with an incredible artist and songwriter I met in Madrid. I trusted @ainoabuitrago with my vulnerability and we worked closely on fine tuning all lyrics. Gracias por todo Ainoa!!

I will never forget the day we sat down in the studio with u’d player @haythamsafia . He sat down with his u’d, closed his eyes and disappeared. When he opened his eyes it was as if he had awoken from a peaceful dream and said ‘Now hear my soul’.

Hearing someone play an instrument vulnerable and fierce at the same time is something unique. I found that when I heard @scarrie_slay on cello, @aagjebeau on violin and Jeltje Quirijnen on viola.

Our idea to gather Spanish singers living in the Netherlands and record them as a choir turned out to be the most special day together with @sergiocontratenor , @levimajormusic , @sara_csio , @desiree.lobede , @louiselinkenbach , @soyzoecastro , @bulseire and @irene_veredas_cm . Singing and spending time with them reminded me how it fel

A few months ago, I discovered these incredible singers and dreamed of having them on my debut album.
Now I’m sooo happy to say that dreams really do come true ❤️

HOW TO BE A BETTER ALLY TO TRANS & NON-BINARY PEOPLE? 💜

Conversations, listening, challenging ourselves and showing up for each other, this is what it takes to build a better scene. And that's exactly what we'll be doing at 15:00 during this year's Beware of Banshees panel. Together, we'll explore what allyship really means, how we can create safer and more welcoming music scenes, and how each of us can contribute; whether you're on stage, behind the scenes or in the crowd. ⚡

We're incredibly honoured to welcome this year's panelists:
🎤 River (she/her/they) | moderator, member of Riot Queer Collective in The Hague, dialogue facilitator and human rights advocate. River helped book Big Tears and has spent years building DIY queer communities through music, art and activism.
🎸 Judy M (she/her) | musician in Dublin-based bands Big Tears and Flower Power, bringing her perspective from Ireland's DIY punk scene and trans community.
🛹 Lilly (she/her) | community organiser, skater and theatre maker from Arnhem. Through queer skate meet-ups and grassroots organising, she's helping create spaces where more people feel welcome to roll in.
🎶 Levi Major (he/him) | singer-songwriter, bassist in TRUT and the subject of the documentary Levi's Voice. His work explores identity, vulnerability and transformation through the lens of his experiences as a trans man.
⚡ Laura (she/her) | she's worked in the live music industry for over 30 years, and about a decade ago, she transitioned. Today, she uses that experience to help others navigate the industry and to light the way for those finding their own path.

🕒 The panel starts at 15:00, making it the perfect reason to come early, grab a drink and join the conversation. Because allyship isn't something you are. It's something you do. 🌈

Morgen staat I Am Oak in Vestzak.

the celebration of Desire For Kingdom, the birth of our first child !
we are so grateful for the amazing night we got to spend with all of you, it felt very big and very intimate at the same time. we’ve poured so much into this show and it was so lovely to see it play out the way it did! last week we spent days at the art academy making sure we had merch, we spent hours folding all the zines and after the show the incredible @olivia.brwne and @xi_sastre spent hours printing our designs on your shirts, blouses, bags, and everything else. @levimajormusic made our banner by hand, which then held up our sword, looming over @irinatuurlijk in a way that was definitely not dangerous but still probably a violation of some kind :)
it’s so new to see so many people fill the room to come and see us for -our- show, so thank you very much for being there <3
we’re also delighted to have had @housemaidband as our support act, it was lovely to listen to them and watch their performance as we calmed our nerves :)
a big thank you again to everyone who helped us put this all together and, of course, thank you for coming, we hope to see you all again soon <3
