We opened Mud Row by Dominique Morisseau last night! And it was beautiful. What a wonderful journey it’s been so far. What a unique challenge to play this particular character. What awesome story to get to navigate. It’s an honor. Thank you, Malkia Stampley, for being an incredible director with such a profound understanding of storytelling and how to shape it so beautifully. In awe of you. Thank you, Lo Williams, for being an amazing associate director. I think you’re so smart. And profound. Thank you to my castmates for being so wonderfully talented and having a deep commitment to tell this story honestly. Yall are absolutely beautiful. Thank to the designers for the lovely work and beautifully building the elements of the world our story lives in. Thank you to our stage managers for holding this ship together. Thank you to the entire Mud Row Company, Remy Bumppo, and its supporters for making this story possible! Let’s keep telling this story, shall we?

In 1967 Detroit, the music was hot, the parties were hotter, and everybody needed somewhere to let loose! 💃🏾🔥

🎬 EXCERPT FROM DETROIT ’67

Bunny (Jimiece Gilbert) and Chelle (Shenise Danyèl) take us back to a time when Motown ruled the airwaves and a good house party could cure just about anything.

MEET JIMIECE GILBERT | BUNNY 🐰

Miss Bonita, Bunny herself!
She’s got something to say—and Bunny is gonna say it. 👀

Jimiece Gilbert returns to the stage as Bunny in Pulse Theatre Chicago’s Detroit ’67! Previous credits include City of Water (Pulse Theatre Chicago), The House That Will Not Stand , ’night, Mother, and A Raisin in the Sun (Invictus Theatre Company), A New Attitude (Black Ensemble Theater) The Tiger Who Wore White Gloves (eta Creative Arts) .

A lover of the performing arts, Jimiece believes in the power of storytelling to connect us, move us, and bring us together.

Now she’s bringing all that energy to Bunny. And trust us…you’re going to want to meet her.
