Thanks to Kevin and @venardoscircus for letting me come and help make some funny! It’s been a joy to play circus after the last year we’ve had. @ericallengonewild is pretty dang funny. If you get a chance to check out this show do it! Playing Colorado for the next 6 weeks and then across America. #liveyourcircusdreams #circus #familyshow #seeyoudowntheroad

Coming into your feminine expression isn’t about doing, achieving.

It’s about softening. Opening. Surrendering.

What sweeter place to soften, than in the arms of beautiful sisters.

Happy Friday YOUnicorns! Today we have a special guest CircAsana Teacher @lexipowww here for some partner backbending/walkover magic wearing our matching sustainable threads by @lole 🦄🤸‍♀️
.
1. Wall Warm Up: it’s suuuper important to warm up the wrists shoulders and upper back before any backbend practice. This one gets them all! Take both hands to the wall with thumbs touching. Lean out and hollow through the ribs (think cat pose) and then arch through the ribs (think cow pose). Then you can add little elbow push-ups, bringing the elbows to the wall then lifting them off (think dolphin arms into handstand arms) adding the cat and cow stretch in both positions.
.
2. Partner Backbend Push-ups: Partner one makes a table top position as partner 2 bends back over them. You can either enjoy the stretch here or practice getting the wrists grounded and then using your glutes and shoulders to push up off of partner 1. Add in push up reps for extra sparkle!
.
3. Partner Leg Lifts: Once you feel comfortable with your wheel push-ups you can practice lifting up towards a walk over! (We encourage a 3rd spotter under the back as seen in the second drill if you’re not quite ready to load those shoulders.) Partner 1 makes a back bend and lifts one leg up to partner 2. Partner 2 supports the back of the leg as partner 1 uses their shoulders and upper back to start to lift their grounded foot up onto tippy toes, and maybe even into their handstand all the way to walk over!
.
Bonus Happiness Science Magic Tricks: While anatomical drills can help us progress more quickly, the Asana practice is all about repetition so don’t forget to celebrate your little victories no matter what level you are at! Bringing our attention towards these little victories helps combat our built in negativity bias (which is awesome and amazing at keeping us out of danger) but can sometimes demotivate us when we’re not perfect at something the first time we try it! Focusing on the victories helps us develop a growth mindset which is the pre req for mastery!!
.
Try these drills and tag us, so we can repost your magic!
