Final images I'm sharing from this body of photographs. Resuming my staged photography explorations has been immensely valuable to me. It has reminded me of how much I've developed in confidence as a creative, still persisting with the projects I've long been passionate about !! It's been immensely freeing to learn to have total belief in my art, and I feel that this work is a reflection of the journey I've taken to reach this point. I'll be sure to continue to do my best to engage with each of my ideas and express myself creatively in all forms!
‎
Moving forward I hope to further explore mask making as it has introduced a whole new line of enquiry about how I can manipulate and erase the faces seen in my imagery. It might be a little while until I can expand on this project again due to my current commitments, but I look forward to pursuing the exciting discoveries it has led to when possible in the future! ☺️🫶
‎
Thank you to @leyleycreations for participating in this work – it's always lots of fun to collaborate with you!

Making the props for my latest photographs involved a lot of trial and error – I experimented with all sorts of techniques and materials to produce the results I wanted. I enjoyed trying out an unfamiliar way of making in my creative process, and although there is room for improvement with further practice I'm pleased I challenged myself to try something different. It's opened up a whole new artistic interest that I'm aiming to explore again!
‎‎
Another design choice that also makes the work visually effective is its monochromatic style. Shooting the photographs in black and white helped to cohesively tie every element of the scene together – whereas the coloured versions looked a little disjointed and were less impactful in consequence. Every little decision about the construction of my imagery added to the overall messaging and atmosphere of it as I intended. 🖤🤍

'Monochrome' Series, 2026
Staged Photographs

Some results from my latest photoshoot 🤍!!
‎‎
It conceptually reverts back to an idea I was intrigued by when I started investigating facial concealment. I initially considered the idea of somehow morphing the face into a blank slate lacking any features at all. It was not something I properly explored because my focus instead shifted to the visual of partial erasure (achieved using masking tape). Creating this work has been an opportunity for me to finally engage with my original concept, while still keeping all of my previous discoveries and successes relevant.
‎‎‎
I oftentimes construct scenes using pre-existing objects, but these images differ from that by containing two handmade props. Creating both the cake and the mask allowed me to replicate my imagined idea as closely as possible in real life. It is similarly successful in adding to the uncanny quality of my work, both visually and by encouraging closer inspection when it is realised that the objects aren't as real as they might appear at a glance. The objects in themselves are purposeful in offering ambiguity, allowing the viewer to make their own decisions on the narrative of the scene and the figure's existence.
‎‎‎
Hopefully this summarises ‎a little bit of my thinking! So much effort and thought went into this photoshoot and I'm insanely proud of how it all came together. I've enjoyed adding to the photographic aspect of my practice again, taking my time to do so between my commitments and other creative projects and hobbies. Looking forward to sharing the other photos soon ☺️🖤!
