POSTS STORIES REELS TAGGED

Is there anything better on a stormy day than a cosy bookshop? I remember years ago at a Taylor Jenkins Reid event in London @tillylovesbooks telling me she’d love to open a bookshop one day so it was a joy to see that dream realised yesterday with the opening of @tillysbookshop ❤️

Tilly is such a champion of writers and books so it was no surprise that despite the truly terrible weather the bookshop was packed!

I highly recommend a trip to visit the bookshop and a stop @chipwickfishandchips as @alexhaybooks and I did though perhaps when there isn’t a Yellow weather warning 😂

In a serendipitous moment, once I’d avoided being swept into the road with Alex and braved the white-knuckle drive home, I finished reading Libby Page’s This Book Made Me Think Of You which features protagonist Tilly and is set in a bookshop! A beautiful love story to books. Perfect for anyone who has found comfort in books, or perhaps has disconnected from reading and needs a reminder. I recommended it to Tilly as I was leaving yesterday and of course she had already read & loved it! 📖

'This Book Made Me Think of You' by Libby Page ⭐⭐⭐⭐💫

📚 Synopsis: Tilly Nightingale is a grieving widow who receives a surprising birthday gift of twelve carefully chosen books from her late husband, Joe, to help her navigate her first year of grief.

📝 My Review: A delightful read chock full of book references, book cliches, and book recommendations. A true book girlies romance.

There is a lot to love about this book - the quirky but sad girl, the sweet bookseller, the idea that a dying spouse could be so in love with his wife that he sets up a year of books to guide her through the grieving process. The adventures she goes on helps her bit by bit to feel again, love again and live again.

I did find it a bit indulgent - she jets off to Scotland, Italy, and Paris after quitting her job with zero financial worries but I guess it's all part of finding herself. It did get a little repetitive and slow in the middle but it all ended nicely tied up.

I book lovers dream romance narrated beautifully by Zadeiah Campbell-Davies.

Tilly gets a call from her local bookshop that changes her life.

There is a package waiting for her from her husband. Except he’s been dead for six months.

It seems that prior to his death, Joe asked bookshop owner Alfie to help him choose one book a month for his wife to help ease her grief in the months after he’s gone.

These books send Tilly on book and life related adventures, while grounding her with a safe space and person.

And Alfie, in his oversized cardigan, bushy beard, and tortoise shell glasses, is taken by this heartbroken young woman and encourages her when things are tough.

As she moves back into the world of the living, will she also take another chance at love?

This book was made to make you feel all the things and boy, does it ever.

What a tender, lovely story of caretaking from beyond the grave that bleeds into the here and now.

This is an ode to book lovers with monthly reading suggestions as well as Joe’s carefully wrapped and curated selections.

Tilly is simultaneously brave and soft. Alfie is immediately endearing as the perfect book store owner. His side story puts a spotlight on the problems small business owners face despite the services they provide beyond offering books to buy. (Fvck big box stores, basically.)

It’s heartwarming and sad and just really, really lovely.

This Book Made Me Think of You by Libby Page @libbypagewrites
Rating: 4.5/5 ⭐
This is the ultimate book about books! It has bookish references, lists of books, a cosy bookshop, and books everywhere. And on top of all that, it’s such a beautiful story.

I absolutely loved the idea of a year of books! The amount of love, thought, and care that went into arranging this gift for Tilly was wonderful. It gave her something to look forward to while navigating life after losing her husband, Joe, and I loved seeing how the books gradually helped her find her way forward.

One of my favourite aspects of the story was how grief and healing after the loss of a partner were handled. Nothing felt rushed, and Tilly’s journey into the next phase of her life felt natural. I loved how Joe’s gift took her to wonderful places, introduced her to amazing people, encouraged her to try new things, and helped her make new friends. I also really enjoyed the flashbacks to Tilly and Joe’s love story.

And then there’s Alfie! He’s thoughtful, kind, friendly, respectful, and owns a bookshop!😍 What more could you want? I loved the dynamic between Tilly and Alfie from the very beginning, and watching their relationship develop was such a delight.

This book took me on an emotional roller coaster, but in the best possible way. It made me smile, tugged at my heartstrings, and left me feeling warm and hopeful.

I don’t read romance very often, but this is definitely a book I want to revisit. It’s a beautiful story about love, loss, healing, new beginnings, and the magic of books.

I would recommend this to absolutely everyone! ❤️

Με τη βοήθεια του Άλφι, ιδιοκτήτη του βιβλιοπωλείου, η Τίλι αρχίζει να ανακαλύπτει τον καινούργιο της εαυτό, στη ζωή μετά τον Τζο. Μπορεί όμως η χρονιά των βιβλίων της Τίλι να της δείξει πώς να αγαπήσει ξανά;
