I got to visit with Lance and his family at the end of our trip to Alaska. Lance and I were debate partners at Liberty and both graduated with an economics degree. I had not seen Lance since his wedding about 26 years ago. What a blessing to visit with him. @libertydebate

This past weekend we hosted the 66th annual Crowe-Warken Debates. Due to travel and security concerns with the Inauguration, we hosted online this year. Congrats to all who competed, with special congratulations to Michigan State, who won the Varsity division, Southern Nazarene who took top honors in JV, and Liberty as novice champions! Next year we hope to see everyone in Annapolis! ⚓️❤️🏆

T1 IS OCTOBER 11-12 at @steamlegacyhighschool / @steam_legacy_debate. SIGN UP TO JUDGE TODAY! Coaches, the deadline to enter your teams is TOMORROW. We still need judges, so share our sign up sheet (link in bio) wide and far.

Tonight (6pm) LAMDL is hosting an evidence seminar— check in with your coach for the Zoom link. It will also be posted to our Discord. This seminar will include a discussion of the evidence packets as well as a summary of the debate topic for the season, with Joseph Flores, Joseph Barquin, and Diego Flores as our lead speakers. Join us!

Finally, this Fall, LAMDL is launching the Los Angeles Metro Debate Alumni Association (LAMDAA), an alumni group that aims to center reconnection and professional development for our debaters. Go to lamdl.org/ALUMNI to find out more information about this program, including perks & incentives, sign up instructions and after our tournaments start, shoutouts to our Alumni.

Congrats to all of our Alumni that have been competing this season, and especially to those that are volunteering their time back at our schools and tournaments as coaches and mentors in tandem. LAMDL is only as strong as the Alumni network we create and maintain!

WHY SUPPORT LAMDL DEBATE?
LAMDL Alumni leave our Debate program and go on to remain competitive into their collegiate debate careers! Your tax deductible donation this giving season means we can continue to support our Alumni, especially as they continue to mentor the next generations of debaters.

In October at the Robert Barbera Invitational hosted by @csun_forensics, Erika Linares and Alessandra Escobar were the tournament Champions, and were recognized as the first and third place speakers respectively! At the same tournament, the brothers Dyego and Bryan Perez-Rivas came in 2nd place, and were second and fourth place speakers respectively!

In November at the Shirley at Wake, LAMDL had several alumni representing! Several of them even had records to make it to break rounds, many took home speaker awards.

Dana Agbede, Northwestern: 3-4
Andres Marquez, Cal: 4-3
Michela Short, Liberty: 5-2 (Doubles)
Kimtee Kundu, Harvard: 2-5
David Martinez, CSUF: 2-5
Brayan Loayza, CSUF: 2-5
Curtis Ortega & Diego Flores, CSULB: 8-2 (Quarters)
Alessandra Escobar & Erika Linares, CSULB: 1-6

Congrats Alumni! LAMDL couldn’t be more proud.
