💐Magnolia Parks💐

I guess i’m starting the series. I dnfed this book last year because I didn’t really care for romance novels but honestly even though it wasn’t the best written book ever but it was still a fun, silly and drama filled book. It was actually really entertaining, like if you like gossip girl this is definitely giving that so I definitely recommend it

🥀The Poppy War🥀

*Book review*

I totally get the hype now! The book was incredible with its intriguing storytelling that spans multiple years seamlessly. It’s not just random jumps; you genuinely feel the passage of time. Rin is an amazing female character, embodying female rage, bravery, intelligence, and courage. Seeing the world through her eyes was fascinating. We experienced things and learnt about things the same time she did .The world building was so vivid that I could immerse myself in it.
Although it was a bit slow due to the absence of romance
and more focus on political intrigue, it
was absolutely worth it. I totally recommend it

review: young mungo

“Mungo had all this love to give and it lay about him like ripened fruit and nobody bothered to gather it up.”

rating: ⭑⭑⭑⭑⭑

when I started this I already knew that it would be devastating and yes it was, every page broke my heart even more. It is such a sad, heartbreaking story that there’s no way you can read this book and feel indifferent, it made me feel so mad about society, I know we’ve come a long way but it doesn’t feel like it sometimes.

This book follows a teenage boy called Mungo (obviously) living in Glasgow and his family, focusing mainly in his sister who dreams of getting out so she won’t end like her mother and brother. They all grew up in a poor neighbourhood with an absent alcoholic mother with mood swings.
Since he was little Mungo has been more sensitive and softer than most of the kids, and his family thought he wasn’t man enough so his mother decides to send him with 2 older men to the countryside to go fishing so he can man up.
The narrative goes back and forth between Glasgow (before going to the countryside) and the countryside.

I loved this book, it is raw and hard to read but really well written. It got me some time to get used to the dialogues but once I did I couldn’t stop reading. I loved Jodie (i know we didn’t love her so much at the end) and wanted to protect her, Mungo and James at all costs. The last few pages were my faves, they felt like a warm hug.

I can’t wait to read more of Douglas Stuart’s work.
If you want to read this book you should check the TW before.

“I listened to your mixtape. I stand in the dark at my window and listen to it every night.”

have you read this one? what are your thoughts?

im a leo sun, virgo moon, capricorn rising

hi im deanna and i romanticize everything. i could probably find beauty in the ugliest rock or stare at a piece of grass that i picked out of the ground and admire its symmetry but then after a few minutes ill feel bad that i ripped it. my happy place is anywhere in nature. im probably one of the most impulsive people youll ever meet. i am easily bored. im always craving a fresh start in any way I can find one. i get ideas and never stick to them. i keep my close circle very small. im quiet and seem stand-offish at first, but when you get to know me, theres no shutting me up. i cant recall a time that i ever lashed out or yelled at something. im abnormally calm and collected but my mind is racing 99% of the time. i overthink things to the tee. i jump from topic to topic and if youre my close friend, ive probably shoved my philosophical/spiritual thinking down your throat here and there. i would live off of sweet potatoes and smoothies and sushi and coffee for the rest of my life. i could go on a bit longer, but ill stop here. i guess that about sums me up ☁️

and i love plants and crystals and tarot and whimsical things👽
