POSTS STORIES REELS TAGGED

My son has been dealing with a pretty bad ear infection. During some quiet time together, I asked him:

“What are you avoiding hearing about yourself, your journey, or someone who is part of your journey?”

He looked at me and asked, “How would I know if I’m avoiding something?”

Great question!

I started rattling off all the ways avoidance disguises itself. Sometimes it looks like procrastination, perfectionism, overthinking, staying busy, keeping the peace, or even personal growth.

Avoidance doesn’t always look like running away. Sometimes it looks like doing everything except the one thing that needs your attention.

So today, we’re going to explore this together.

Take a few minutes to look at the 20 Ways Avoidance Shows Up sheet beside your mat. Notice what resonates. What surprises you? What might be asking for your attention?

At the bottom, you’ll find our reflection question:

Are you responding to your soul’s needs and your life’s assignment, or reacting to the anticipation of discomfort?

I encourage you to spend some quiet time journaling about this today.

When does your mind begin negotiating an exit from a pose on your mat, a conversation, a conversation?

Can you recognize the difference between honoring your body’s needs and anticipating discomfort?

Sometimes the greatest shift begins with our willingness to notice what we’ve been avoiding!

How is the season you are in shaping the way you show up in your relationship to your yoga practice as a teacher and the student!!

Season? Yep, season! Our inner experiences move through natural cycles too!

Let’s consider a few poses in this short sequence that I journeyed through as I was creating my class today!!

🌸 Spring — Anjaneyasana
Opening. Emergence. Possibility.

☀️ Summer — Trikonasana
Expression . Strength. Spaciousness.

🍂 Fall — Parivrtta Adho Mukha Svanasana
Wringing out. Grounding. A shift in perspective.

❄️ Winter — Push-Up
Containment. Discipline. Inner strength

Can you honor the season you are in without forcing yourself to practice (live, think, speak) from another one? ❤️

Supported Hip Airplane Challenge with @life_2a_t (the Lifetime yoga instructor)

Try this challenge to test your hip mobility and glute stability.

While one leg keeps pushing a roller into the wall and rotate another leg to open your hip. Lower the leg and touch the floor with a hand.

From here, this is our original sequence where another leg is to cross over the roller.
