Make your own FLOCK BLOCK 🐓 Recipe by @lifeofhighley

2 cups layer feed
2 cups @lovemygirlstreats Pumpkin & Worms
*THE KEY PUMPKIN INGREDIENT*

1/4c whole wheat flour
1/2 cup molasses
4 eggs with shells
Any herbs of choice
-I used dried marigolds & lavender from our garden

*you can be creative with the ingredients used*

Mix well and press into a loaf pan. Make sure you press firmly and form it into the pan. Don’t forget to make a hole to hang it up!

325° 30-35 minutes (I find that it holds better at 35 minutes)
LET IT COOL COMPLETELY and then allow your chickens to enjoy!

I am a day late posting for National Daughter’s Day but I am forgiven since I bought here anything she wanted at the White Cart today! Plus I got some honey and Georgia loved the watermelon lemonade.

As someone who prefers the natural sweetness of honey in my coffee, I thought I’d dive into how honey is made! 🐝🍯

Aimee & Wes from @lifeofhighley so graciously allowed me to come out & check out their beehives. 🐝

I got to suit up in the bee keeper gear & had a BLAST!

I learned so much 🍯
🐝 nearly 20,000 bees can live in a double decker bee hive at a time
🐝 you can spot a queen 👑 by its “bald spot” & because it’s longer than other bees
🐝 bees know where they live, so if you move their hive, they might get confused until they find their hive again 🤣
🐝 bees are extremely loyal to their queen & are territorial. Don’t mess with their nectar, their queen or anyone in their colony
🐝 worker bees live about 30 days where a queen can live 2-5 years
🐝 all bees in a hive are female & the male (drones) are usually kicked out

We even got to create a new hive after finding a queen bee that we randomly found a swarm of bees along the tree line!

@lifeofhighley has a cute White Cart where you can purchase their fresh honey, farm fresh eggs, protein balls, delicious cookies & brownies, and even @firmfoundation_coffee !!

Thank you Aimee & Wes for allowing me to spend the day with you, learn about your bees, your adorable White Cart of fresh goodies & sharing your love of animals & nature! I am so excited to try the honey in my coffee!
