OMG... Day 1 of the @paidsummit completely exceeded my expectations! A big round of applause to @osarualile and her team, @light.designfactory and everyone who worked tirelessly to ensure this is a virtual summit like no other.
From the conversations to the insights shared by the speakers, I found myself constantly inspired and reminded why spaces, storytelling, and intentional design matter so much.
One thing I really appreciated was how honest and practical the sessions felt; not just beautiful ideas, but real conversations about growth, creativity, business, and the future of interior design across Africa and beyond.
So grateful to everyone who made today impactful. 🙌🏾
Already looking forward to Day 2 and 3 and all the amazing discussions still to come.
A special thank you to @africa_creatives_alliance_ for making this possible for me.

I’m noticing a shift.

Sustainable design isn’t screaming “eco” anymore.
It’s becoming integrated. Quiet. Textural.

Healthier materials.
Older pieces.
Flexible systems.

It feels less performative
and more intentional.

What interior trend are you watching?

There are speakers designed simply to play music.

And then there are speakers designed to hold presence.

The Torso Speaker by Yang Dong Wook, developed through the Samsung Design Membership Program @samsungdesign, draws from Michelangelo’s Bust of David, carrying the quiet strength and proportion of classical sculpture.

At first glance, it feels museum worthy.

Only later do you notice the contemporary sound technology within.

Here, art meets technology with restraint.

It reads as sculpture before equipment.

Technology shaped by cultural memory becomes more than functional.

It becomes atmosphere.

We talk a lot about innovation, but the real value of tech in design is simple: it solves problems.

Less friction.

Fewer mistakes.

Better planning.

And when things work well, people feel more at ease in the spaces they use.

What’s one piece of technology that has genuinely made your space or work better?

Your home office should do more than hold a laptop.

It should spark creativity, calm your mind, and make work feel a little joyful.
