POSTS STORIES REELS TAGGED

Another @waltermagazine appreciation post.
I had a great time visiting @jsandersstudio in her new space at Bonded Llama. Walter featured her work in their colorful September issue. A beautiful way to officially end summer.

There’s also a great story by @aynmonique about Raleigh’s public art installation by Maxwell Emcays called “The Victor” at Fire Station 3 and a cool piece about all things disco and singer @azulmzapata by music writer David Marconi. 🪩

“And rollerskates.” Of course.
This cover by @bryanregan on Lori Wiggins’ story about Raleigh’s skate culture is pretty amazing too.

Jackie Sanders is known for creating visuals that draw attention to overlooked places. Her colorful murals enliven objects in public spaces, from signal boxes to storm drains, through bold shapes, sharp lines, vibrant botanicals and figurative elements. Read more in the September issue!

Wow! This feature feels especially meaningful.

Over the years, I’ve watched WALTER tell the stories of so many artists and creative professionals I deeply admire and respect, including people within our local arts community whose careers, work, and contributions I’ve looked up to throughout my own journey.

To now see my name and work among that history feels surreal.

What makes this feature even more special is the moment it documents. After six years of building my practice within the walls of @artspacenc this summer marked a pivotal transition: closing the door to that studio and beginning a new chapter at @bonded.llama.

I’m so grateful to WALTER for capturing my practice at this exact moment, and to be included alongside the artists and professional art friends who have helped shape Raleigh’s creative community and, in many ways, inspired me along the way.

“Change Agent: Meet Artist Jackie Sanders” is featured in the WALTER September 2026 issue.

Thank you to @cultureshockart for the amazing article and to @steadyfilm and @lightcreativephoto for capturing my work through their photography.

Something magical happens when you put a group of mothers together in a cozy kitchen on a stormy night with appetizers and wine and poetry. I left this workshop feeling invigorated, supported, and empowered by the conversation and writing that was shared.

Thank you @her_healthcollective for inviting me to lead this workshop and to @lightcreativephoto for capturing the vibes.

I was lucky enough to interview muralist Jackie Sanders for Suburban Living Mag! She is the first artist commissioned by the town of Holly Springs to paint a mural- just in time for the town’s 250th anniversary. Check out the link in my bio to read more!

Little me was always pushing, creating, and working toward goals that felt just out of reach… until they weren’t. Safe to say, she would’ve absolutely lost her mind over a project like this. ✨

HUGE shout out to my incredibly talented friend @lightcreativephoto for perfectly capturing the energy behind the scenes of Holly Springs’ first Town Sponsored Mural downtown.

I’ve been saying “I’m coming out of hibernation” lately because from the outside in, I’m sure it’s seemed like maybe I’d stepped back from some things, but really...
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
• I took a six month hiatus from drinking
• I joined two new tennis teams
• I designed + oversaw our folks’ kitchen renovation
• I’ve gotten into a pilates routine
• I paid down credit cards to zero + locked them
• I’ve been building out the next phases of my business
• I’ve invested in myself more intentionally
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
I’ve done anything but hibernate, truthfully! I’m down eight pounds, I feel more motivated, I am only 2k from having my car entirely paid off in under 2 years, I’ve doubled my savings, and mentally I feel more relaxed — making time for me, the things I want, and saying no to the things I don’t, without guilt.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
I share this not to brag, but to instead shed light on the flip side: because what I can celebrate now also came with moments of temptation, guilt, judgement, frustration, anger, defeat, anxiety. At times I’ve felt excluded, sometimes even alone. And I had a real moment of realizing perhaps I’d even been a bit depressed.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
May is #MentalHealthAwarenessMonth and though I didn’t initially set out to share this because of that, the timing is too pretty perfect to not note.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
I grew up in more of a hush-hush era, and over the years, though I’ve held onto many of those reservations that are just so deeply rooted, I’ve done a lot of work and am generally pretty candid among those closest.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
My goal for May is to open up here too, to push myself to be more vulnerable, but more importantly, to potentially connect with anyone else that may be in the thick of it themselves. I hope this illustrates that all the good also comes with difficulties and that we can change direction any time we damn well please!
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Follow along for more intentional shares — reach out anytime or just save them as you feel. And know that you are delightfully perfect and loved, friend! xo
