Working on (un)grounded with @amesgoesup was an absolute delight, incredibly personal, and very rewarding. As an immunocompromised person, it was very important to me to perform with my mask this time. I spent almost 10 years attempting to be diagnosed and treated while progressively feeling worse and worse.
It was very cathartic to finally be able to express this on stage. Thank you @cirkusmoxie and @bk_arthaus for giving us the space to perform, and @lipyanskiy_photo for the captures.

I am still processing the incredible experience of performing with the talented cast of (un)grounded by @amesgoesup. Thank you to Amy for the opportunity and the support to be vulnerable, and thank you to the incredible cast for sharing your art and the stage with me! Getting to collaborate on a project that deeply resonates has been incredibly healing for me. 💕

If you haven’t had the chance yet, please go to @amesgoesup’s post with an excerpt from her opening statement. 💕

Happy World Circus Day!
Spending the day transitioning from the end of our (un)grounded @cirkusmoxie residency at @bk_arthaus to the start of this year's @hupstatecircus residency. What a lucky little circus nymph I am!

I am so grateful to have been through this development process with a truly stunning group of artists. What we are doing is special and important and personal and universal and silly and serious and grounded and cannot be tied down, all at once. I'll find more wonderful words for it soon (I hope), but for now, thank you for including me, for seeing me and my art, and for joining together to create in community.

Happy world circus day!!!!! I cannot believe we just made a show! Looking back on this first run of (un)grounded, I'm realizing all the ways I seriously had a couple of spreadsheets and a dream. I've learned so much these last few months! First and foremost, I should've had a co-producer. Or at least a lighting coordinator. And it was incredibly extra to have an act in my own show, though I'm very glad I did. But most importantly, I've learned that when you're around the right people, people who share your values, your ways of caring about the world and each other... magic will happen. It's like we were in this special lil vortex that was so gentle and uplifting, all my heart and vulnerability had no choice but to flow out with more ease than I ever would've thought possible.

Don't miss it! Come see (un)grounded 4/15 and 4/17 at @bk_arthaus. It looks like we are going to have a full house, so arrive early to get a good seat.

(un)grounded is an evening-length aerial and circus show that explores health and identity. It’s born from the experiences of its cast members, each of whom lives with a chronic condition or disability that is often unrecognized or forgotten about in collective consciousness. This is a show about making the invisible, visible, in hopes that all of us–artists and audience alike—find ways to honor the wholeness of our own selves and each other.

🤟American Sign Language (ASL) interpretation will be provided at both shows by ASL Artist @bkazenmaddox

There will be a raffle at intermission, the proceeds from which will support our creation process and the important work being done by @consultability
ConsultAbility is a nonprofit that helps theaters and arts organizations build accessibility into everything they do, not just as a service, but as part of the creative process. They work behind the scenes and alongside artists to make sure more people can fully experience and participate in the arts.

It’s (un)grounded week!

So much I could say about this show, but mostly that I am so grateful to @amesgoesup for including me in this project and to @whos.that.bint for making my MRI techno dreams come true (come hear for yourself)! So excited to be a part of a show dedicated to accessibility for both performers and audience - including ASL interpretation by @bkazenmaddox and livestream viewing!

This act has been a work in progress for a few years now, in dedication to the amazing tube machine that i have been lucky to be in on some of the worst and best days of my life, and to finally getting to move to all the gorgeous complex beats that i can only enjoy in perfect stillness on real MRI day !!!

Excited to share it at @bk_arthaus or by livestream this Wednesday + Friday and maybe other places in the future if you miss it 💋

Grateful to @amesgoesup for the opportunity and the platform to share something that has been on my mind for a very long time. It has been inspiring to work with an incredibly talented cast who, against all odds, continue to create amazing art.

The irony of an endocrine disorder is that if it’s visible, then I find myself having to explain to everyone why I am failing to meet the expectations of society and of my family/cultural upbringing, but if it’s invisible, it means I have temporarily won the ongoing battle with my body to project the picture-perfect facade I plaster all over social media and to the world, which is at odds with how ugly and broken I know I am inside.

I am not good with words. It is difficult to talk about, because it is very personal—this piece is a way for me to express these feelings, however imperfect, convoluted, and nebulous. To get it out of my system, if you will, with the medium that taught me to love my body in spite of its flaws (most days, anyway).

Thank you for reading this blurb! There’s so much going on in the world right now and there are people dealing with much worse issues, so it means a lot to me that you made it this far in the post. 💕

Ticket links are in my bio (a Livestream is available as well), and please DM me if you have any questions/thoughts. 💕
