Whiting Mills Spooktacular is coming up and spookier than ever!
I’ve had so much fun working with the amazing creative team putting this event together. Such positive vibes and the decorations this year are off-the-charts cool and scary. My studio is full - jewelry, landscapes, sun catchers, and *NEW* vintage glass, mostly blown glass vessels and lamp-worked glass figures. And a few oddities rolled in cause that’s how I roll.

Saturday & Sunday. October 3rd & 4th • 10 - 4 pm
-50 resident and guest artisans
-tarot readings -flash tattoo event -food truck on site
-free entry

We are having SO MUCH FUN getting ready for the spooky season at the mill. This scene was proposed by @debralill @lill.reading.room and I happily joined in with my tools. The artists are getting ready for our Halloween Spooktacular Expo at Whiting Mills on Oct 3/4 from 10-4. #halloweencreativity #whitingmills #halloweenmarket #cthalloweenevents

I got to visit 4 bookstores in one day recently and it was the best. The fifth was closed which was a sad realization but it’s an excuse to go back. Have you been to any of these? #bookstagram #ctbookstores #independentbookstore #books #usedbooks

Working on a series of still life setups with vintage pieces.

A little-known fact: I own a vintage bookshop filled with antiques, which provides a wonderful source of props for my shots—each item with its own history.

For this first one, I wanted to focus on textures and patina with just enough detail to suggest a travel narrative.

HAPPY HALLOWEEN! Thought I’d share one of my recent book covers – perfect for a spooky night. This one was for a fascinating paperback about séances in the 1800s published by @sourcebooks

For those who don’t know, I’ve been creating book cover photo-illustrations for many years. This one was especially fun to bring to life thanks to some brilliant hand modeling by my neighbors & friends at Whiting Mills!

Huge thanks to:

@TylerGreenFX
Karann Schaller of @sunlightartistry
as well as Roxanne, Nola and Aiden

Art: the great equalizer. My visit to @whitingmills yesterday was nothing short of spiritual. Struggling with my emotions all morning, on the verge of tears for the same reasons I'm tired of feeling and discussing, I sought solace in art. Being surrounded by art and artists never fails to lift my mood. Before leaving the house, I was consumed by bitter thoughts, questioning the universe's fairness, wondering why the unaware seem to receive favor while the aware do not. So, I set out to open the doors to art and like-minded people, and the universe embraced me like I’ve never been embraced. @heatherneilsonart, an amazing painter and art educator commented on my striking blue eyes — they’re especially blue after crying jags — and I got weepy right there in front of her. She gave me Kleenex, understanding, and creative distraction. I stopped into @debralillstudio and she gave me the same feels I can always count on her for: kinship, joy, and beauty. I saw @lesleylishstudiogallery and she gave me a warm welcome, excitement, and fragrance. I visited @khborkowski and she gave me direction, familiarity, and Kleenex. I shopped @idlegauds and it was there that the universe physically embraced me in the form of @elizabeth_gilbert_writer. (I did actually experience that, right?!!!) I felt the universe in that hug! It felt like a friend! And it acknowledged me and gave me reassurance that the universe favors all — the oblivious and the aware — and sometimes you get to hug back. 😭

P.S. Meeting Elizabeth Gilbert is a big magical deal for me! I didn’t share that with her because I didn’t want to be another star struck boob! (I’m not gonna lie, I was star struck, but in a calm way) Follow her and read her books if you haven’t already. Her Ted Talk about sledgehammers and hummingbirds, insert chef’s kiss here!

Painting the studio update! I didn't paint myself into a corner, but....

(Thanks to Deb Lill of the Lill Reading Room for the photo. And in my defense, the front half of the room was dry-ish, so I had an escape plan.)
