Pete and Bobby Challenge

For Time:

50 Pull-ups
100 Push-ups
*Partition any way

Time Cap= 10:00min

We completed this workout last fall and have seen a lot of athletes improve since then. Not just in total reps completed but in movement quality!

Standards matter to us and we want to help athletes move safely through a full range of motion. That means full range of motion pull-ups and push-ups. If an athlete has an injury or limitation we address it through coaching a modification for them and progressing them over time.

Don’t just train. Train with intent!

Cancer update: Today I have some blood work to get done at the doc to test my blood for circulatory tumor DNA markers. What that means is they are testing to see if there are any tumor cells in my body somewhere (note: if there are, the next place they will likely show up is on my lungs). And if it is positive then the treatment will have to be chemo. So I really, really (really) need this to be negative today, as I absolutely do not want to have to do chemo (part of the decision to do surgery this time was to avoid the negative effects from the chemo toxicities). I keep feeling like at some point, the percentages have to start falling my way since they haven't yet.

So anyway, please throw some prayers and good vibes my way if you have a second; I'd appreciate it. And as always, please remember to check in on Aimee and not just me, because this shit is mentally hard for her too.

“Exercise performed in a community, at high intensity makes people better. And I don’t get to be the judge, you can for yourself.”

-Greg Glassman (Founder of CrossFit)

There are many great fitness programs out there, however, the best program is the one you stick to. In CrossFit we do fitness together. The group dynamic promotes accountability, challenge, fun, encouragement, competition, and most importantly you become more than just a face. You become a part of something.

That’s what will bring you back.

That’s why CrossFit works.

Welp, bad news: I was really hoping to never have to make this post, but it looks like my cancer is back. If you recall, my "treatment" for all this post-surgery was surveillance every few months. I went for scans in September and all was good. Then I went again this past Friday and the doc called me yesterday and said there is a lymph node there that wasn't there before and he's very concerned. I do have to go back and do lab work and more scans tomorrow, but it definitely looks like it's back. And he had told me previously if it ever came back it would be in my lymph nodes. So that fucking sucks.

But the less shitty news is that it is still very treatable/survivable, so if there's a positive to this, that's one. But that's where we are as of now. He also is taking my scan pics to his board meeting today to discuss with his colleagues and so once I see him again on Friday we should have a clearer picture of what is going on. And there are usually a few different treatment options (chemo, radiation, or surgery). Just a clear shit moment that I wasn't prepared for yesterday, especially after a fun weekend with my buddy...because even though in the back of my mind I sort of expected it to come back, hearing that it has is a gigantic slap in the face. Anyway, I'll take all those prayers and high-five emojis again if you want to throw some my way. And as always, direct some of those at Aimee and the fam as well because this shit sucks for them too. And sorry for cussing; let's call it my coping mechanism (even though we know that's not true, ha).

Lucas yesterday: "Dad, I really much wish you didn't have cancer."
Me too, buddy...I really much wish that too.
Fuck you, cancer.

Happy birthday to this beautiful human being and one of my favorite TV show-watching partners. You and I hit it off from the first day we met, and that has grown into a fantastic relationship that I cherish dearly. Your mom and I are infinitely proud of you and everything you’ve accomplished this past year. Here’s to hoping 23 is the best year ever. I love you forever, kid.
