it was only one bird, how did it end up like this?! 🇱🇧 🍉🤍

♥️🌊 was so nice to have an excuse to have my mum at a market with me for the very first time - all the way from home in Lebanon. thank you @make.amarket ✨ for organising this day and to all the lovely people who stopped by to shop or share sweet words! also loved meeting many wonderful fellow small businesses.

In case you hadn’t already heard me shout out about it, mum used to make pearl jewellery throughout my adolescence. she’d spend hours making gorgeous super long necklaces by crocheting pearls together. years later, she started up a social enterprise to support women on lower incomes in the country.

It was never part of my plan to make jewellery for a living but if anyone can take the credit for inspiring me to work with pearls and dedicate to fundraising, it’s her 🥰.

Last night I came home and found Rico stuck inside one of his toys.

Thankfully, he was completely fine and acted as if nothing had happened, but it was a reminder that even toys marketed for birds can become dangerous depending on their design and how our birds choose to use them.

Birds are curious, playful, and sometimes determined to squeeze into spaces they were never meant to fit into. A toy that seems harmless can become a trapping hazard in seconds.

Please inspect your birds' toys regularly and always think about how a determined little beak might interact with them when you're not around.

What looks like enrichment to us can sometimes become a safety risk.

Sometimes awareness comes from a close call.

I'm sharing ours in the hope it prevents someone else's♥️🦜

thought it was time to introduce you to the whole team here at ray makes things HQ.

haven’t included the one who does the inventory checks and keeps stock in check, runs workshops, meets you at markets, photographs pieces, packages orders, befriends royal mail staff … ! we’re a big team 😏.

Two birds and one poem 🦜🦜

Rex, the green quaker,
Peeks from behind
The red bush,

While Lemon, not a faker,
But the hot girlfriend, gazes to find
If any girl dares to hide behind any other bush,

They sing and chirp,
Drink with a slurp,
Send a loud burp,
Then tweet and twirp,

Such a couple
Those monk parakeets,
Their love sends a ripple
Through chests in need of beats.

A thought pulls a thought,
A word follows a word,
Suddenly you’re caught
Chirping like a bird,

With or without
Sense,
Yet no doubt,
Fluent and intense,
Pointing out
Life’s ups and downs,
With smiles and no frowns,

No attack,
No defense,
Just gratitude stack
No need for a horse sense
To track life’s riddles and crack.
