‘Contours’ at Oddaný Gallery is a choreographed investigation of how forms occupy, interrupt and depend upon space. Curated by Lilly Skipper, the exhibition treats the gallery as another material within the work: structures become anchors, and empty space becomes as important as the objects themselves. Across the four works, forms protrude, bend, hover and buckle, producing a subtle tension between support and collapse, rigidity and movement. Lan Anh Truong’s ‘Potted Trio’ draws from her mother’s bonsai garden, reconfiguring the tools and structures of gardening into an abstract, almost architectural organism. Its forms wind and connect like vines, yet their growth is anything but natural. Garden stakes, connectors and repurposed components recall the human desire to train, contain and beautify nature, transforming acts of making and tending into forms of connection. That tension between softness and structure continues through Arthur Foulkes’ ‘Well’, which transforms textiles into something surprisingly rigid: floral and striped fabrics overlap across an irregular, jagged form, their familiar domestic patterns colliding with the almost crude physicality of the object. Tomas Ording-Jespersen’s ‘Moonrise Pastoral’ plays with perception. Its vivid red felt initially reads as a flat, almost glowing surface, but closer inspection reveals creases, sprayed areas of white and subtle shifts in texture. Two semicircular forms and hard-edged lines hover somewhere between landscape, architecture and abstraction. Max Conley’s ‘Untitled’ almost disappears into the gallery itself. Its white, curved form echoes the architecture of the room, dissolving against the wall as though it is simultaneously an object and a fragment of the building. Through restraint, ‘Contours’ allows the works to lean on one another, creating relationships through distance, scale, colour and suspension. The exhibition ultimately asks us to consider the precarious structures that allow things to exist: what holds us up, what bends under pressure, and what happens in the space between stability and collapse. @oddanygallery @lilly__skipper #luminosa #luminosaartsscene #oddanygallery

‘The power went to my head… with a little budget and a long leash, un turned me into a kind of lord of independent arts publishing’. Victoria Perin reflects on her time as the un Extended Editor-in-Residence 2025-26, now live online. 📝 Perin takes us through the importance of having a peer-to-peer platform, the precarity of funding, the pairing of young artists with young writers and their personal relationships. Her reflection touches on the 10 pieces Perin commissioned and edited over 2025-26, and her symposium ‘Enduring Experimental Poets' — the threads become clear. Ultimately Perin’s EiR pieces leave many questions for future local arts historians to unpick whether it be; how does one archive a local arts scene that was always meant to be ephemeral in nature, and what is the thread between local ARIs and the kind of conspiratorial and enthusiastic scholarship of ‘The Crank’.
