Marathon season is well underway but everyone always has the ‘what comes next?’ question afterwards and whether it goes well or not the immediate reaction is to always get back to it #grindculture & we’re here to say STOP!

Because shoes and fuel have changed the game in recent years - can you bounce back quicker? Sure. Should you? Hmm…

We think you should give yourself AT LEAST a week of focused recovery. You can run but it should be short and social. It should be coupled with good food, rehydrating, good sleep, mobility work, some physio treatment at the BARE MINIMUM! But also, give yourself some time to think, absorb and dream again regardless of the result!

Let’s talk….. about EASY RUNS!

We get asked a lot about paces, heart rates or zones for easy runs and there is a lot of potentially confusing information out there especially for someone fairly new to running but even for more experienced runners it can all feel a little overwhelming so using the famous saying we were told as young athletes

💋KISS (Keep It Simple Stupid) we wanted to give you a quick rule to help you make a quick decision when out for your runs:

⚠️ If your plan is to run easy and recover you should be able to hold a conversation in the same way you would walking around. If you can’t or finding you have to use 3 word responses or catching your breath then you’re running too hard for a recovery run.

Feel free to ask any questions or if there’s anything you wanted to know just send us a DM or comment below!

Original clips from @capuertotorrevieja !

What a better way to spend a Saturday night than running with friends, music, food, beer & prizes 🪩 🏃‍♀️

One big race at 8pm - adults and kids, a safe closed road, see the sights of the town and then food and drinks afterwards in the park!

👋 Some little snapshots of our life in Spain 🇪🇸

We plan to share some snippets of our life here and hope it encourages people to experience what life is really like here and see some new places 🥰

Swipe across to see some of our fave spots!
Lots more to come!

📍 Rio de Segura

Runs on the river are our daily staple and we love it when the river is in bloom 🪴 🍃 🌷

The river goes all the way from Murcia to Guardamar where it meets the sea with miles upon miles of runs spots and a mix of tarmac path and trail it’s perfect for training and exploring!

📍 Ciudad Quesada

The view from our favourite bar and coffee stop!
The ‘high street’ is great for food and drink options at all times of day!

📍 Ciudad deportiva de Torrevieja

Sports fans have plenty of options!

Here we went along with friends to watch Torrevieja beat Benidorm FC in the local league to gain promotion ⚽️

The local Ciudad Deportiva de Torrevieja is a fantastic sports facility with a track, gym, pools and other facilities that are well priced and easy access!

📍 Los Alcázares

Watching La Vuelta come through town 🚲

📍 Náufragos Beach Club

Our friends showed us an amazing beach club where the food is amazing and it’s one of if not our favourite lunch spot especially in the summer!

Muy importante ⚠️

Enjoying learning the language with a tutor!
Some bits from school came back to us but it can feel slow but it’s fulfilling and hopefully one day we will be fluent or at least competent 🤞🏽

Ps. Look at my plants - they’re not dead 🥳

📍 Guardamar

River runs that start at the golf club and finish at the sea in Guardamar 🌊

📍 El Recorral

Less than a mile from our house it’s a great spot to wander round or for an evening. Loads to do for kids - an interactive adventure trail, playground, bbq spots and paths to explore!

📍 La Marquesa Golf

Being a golf widow isn’t so bad when these are the views ⛳️ Golfers are spoilt for choice round here with many many great courses nearby!

📍 Rojales

My favourite run loop! Hilly but a goodie!
Watch for the snakes in the summer.
Apparently it’s quite a fun technical bike ride according to my dad but I’ll stick to running it.

🗣️ Quote by Robert Collier

Lots of information out there about ‘consistency being key’ & ‘building brick by brick’ - I even believe we spoke about making a cake on here once 🤔

But it’s true especially with marathon training -

Of course you can smash things for a few workouts and weeks and you may get some results and there is a time and a place to really hit it and go for it to raise that ceiling or at least see where it might be however the true progress and the raising of the floor is in the months and months and years and years of consistently putting one foot in front of the other. That’s what holds you up when you do pick up an injury or an illness or if things start to go a little sideways on race day - your base that you’ve built over time is what holds strong and allows you to hang on or return quicker and stronger than before so don’t neglect or take those steps for granted and when you’re in the thick of it - keep going - it might not be impressive work but it’s the stuff that matters 💪🏽

Could one conversation improve your next race?

Whether you’re chasing a PB, training for your first marathon, or feeling stuck but unsure if full 1:1 coaching is right for you - this is your chance to get our feedback without committing to ongoing coaching.

We think so.

Every runner has blind spots. Sometimes it’s your recovery. Sometimes it’s simply that you’re doing too much—or not enough.
Sometimes it’s just a few tweaks and a fresh set of eyes that make the difference.

That’s where our Training Review Call comes in. For the cost of 1 months coaching:

🏃 We review your recent training block or your last marathon build.
📞 We meet with you for a one-to-one support call to go through and find out more about you, your training & goals.
📝 You will receive a personalised report highlighting 3 key areas that we think will have the greatest impact with practical advice you can implement straight away.
🌟 As part of this package you have up to 7 days where you can ask us any questions via email or WhatsApp if there is anything you’re unsure of.

📩 DM us or comment “REVIEW” to find out more and book your call with us!

Call me biased, but running is the best sport out there. Where else do you train alongside your “competitors” while genuinely rooting for them to succeed? Ultimately, the only person you’re competing against is yourself. I’m loving the process of seeing what I can achieve in the marathon distance right now, but above all, I’m just grateful to be fit, healthy and out here doing what I love. #flyhumanfly #marathon #altitudetraining #fontromeu
