Friday Oct 30th, 7pm doors, show 7:30pm at Temescal Art Center in Oakland, CA. Honored to play this show with new and old friends. I will doing a first time collaboration with the multi faceted IDHAZ, one of my favorite artists I meet a few years ago. Videos 1 & 2 are from my recent show as Transient with drummer Edwin Ayala and film maker Anna Geyer at @sfcinematheque ‘s Micro Spells. The later images are of IDHAZ. The amazing line up features: Marcia Bassett (NYC) and StCelfer (NYC) Electronic sonic events in real time, smudging distinctions between analog, digital, body, and instrument. Danishta Rivero (CA) is an improviser, performer, and sound artist based in Oakland, California. She explores the artifacts resulting from heavy processing of the voice and their relationship to its acoustic resonance. Jenny Gräf (DK/US) performs a set combining self-built electroacoustic instruments, analogue synthesizer, and vocals. Moving from the quiet shimmer of her hand-built speakers to the raw, resonant textures of her metal bow instrument and synth, the set moves through shifting terrain between noise, voice, and electroacoustic sound. This is Gräf’s first West Coast performance in seven years. Transient & IDHAZ (SF, CA) Transient was founded by David R. Molina in 2000, as a solo and collaborative project exploring electro-acoustic, ambient, noise, industrial, free improvisation, sound art, shoegaze, and experimental music. He is a multi-instrumentalist, composer, sound designer, music producer, and instrument inventor, who has worked on social justice centered performing arts, film, and multimedia productions for 30 years. IDHAZ is a producer/vocalist transporting through obscured portals to sounds of undiscovered emotion, past, future, and fractured light. He began performing poetry in 2010, and since then has become a magnetic, multi-disciplinary performance artist and audio engineer in the Bay Area. Combining elements of harp, gameboy, beat machines, samples, and genre fluid vocals, IDHAZ creates visceral soundscapes to immerse into. #experimentalmusic #soundart #liveelectronicmusic #improvisedmusic

Thanks to everyone who came out to see GammaTime at @movingimagenyc 💫 The hive mind was buzzing with brainwaves.  As your EEG is being recorded in GammaTime, it reflects your inter-connected consciousness with your environment. Your brainwaves create a visual and sonic tableau with other participants, bridging the conscious with the unconscious in real-time. Special thanks to @reg_ha for inviting me to perform GammaTime and screen a video on the history of Brainwave Drawings 1972-2008 in the Bartos Theater. Many thanks to @officialshlug, and @sonia_s_e for organizing and curating the evening. Congratulations and thanks to @exitrip and @_lucindajacobson for their ongoing collaboration. Wonderful to think about perception, art, bodies, and the next iteration of our human experience alongside @rachelrossin! ps. Tag yourself if you see yourself!

The psychedelic effects of LSD have been well documented. But what about the psychedelic effects of electronic musical instruments? In the early 1960s, Don Buchla made a living designing circuits that translated biological phenomena into electronic signals, building instruments for the blind and experimental sensors for NASA research into manned spaceflight. These devices didn't just report on the senses. They hinted at the possibility of changing them. Then his friend Owsley Stanley began flooding San Francisco with hundreds of thousands of doses of LSD, and Buchla found another technology that promised to alter his senses, and his consciousness. Join us on October 3rd at 8PM at the MMT in Harleysville, PA as musicologist @ted_gordon explores Buchla's place in the 1960s counterculture, including his relationships with Stanley and Timothy Leary, his work on the legendary 1966 Trips Festival, his involvement with the San Francisco Tape Music Center, and his interest in psychedelic technologies. Following his lecture, Gordon will be joined by Marcia Bassett @lilyruskroda, a frequent collaborator and NYC noise legend who regularly performs with Buchla instruments and guitar, to perform an improvised duo, articulating some of the ideas developed in the talk. Tickets are available at tickets.theMMT.org and we'll see you when you get here! #donbuchla #further #kenkesey #museum #buchla
